A Pox On Chinese ‘Goods’
Enough already. This latest toy mess is just the last straw, given the contaminated pet foods and other products they’ve shipped of late. While I doubt it will do much to their economy I’m going to look at the origin of every product I buy and if it says ‘China’ I will do my absolute darndest to avoid it. I only hope that I can find a higher-priced made in the US of A product to replace it. Call it knee-jerk, xenophobic, yawn, whatever. I’m tired of this crap and the companies here that collude with them.

This is, in part, a result of our demand for cheap goods. There are other reasons (not least of which is greed and lack of concern on the part of the Chinese). So it *might* help. A little tiny bit……
I’m with Bingley. (There’s a slogan for the Governor’s run!) I’ve been avoiding Chinese goods as much as possible for years now. The main exceptions to that rule are umbrellas and computer stuff, which are impossible to find otherwise. Almost anything else, one can find an alternative if one searches hard enough.
Hmmmm.
I definitely avoid any food items made in China.
It takes a lot of will power and time to find non-Chinese goods in our stores. THey are cheaper and in the short run keep prices down.
“All America Walmart” used to have US goods inside…now it is virtually impossible to find any goods there or anywhere without the “footprint” of Made in China on it. So MUCH FOR ALL AMERICA WALMART. I wouldn’t shop there so I dont care,
It can be done…but expect to pay more and look in better stores…although not always any better and they too have been sucked in by Chinese goods.
How do you think the Bush adminstration has held down inflation…..overseas trading to lesser paying countries.
Now we have a huge trade inbalance which will catch up to us down the road…..and the Chinese have the entire deck of cards now. Institute trade sanctions…for instance…and they cancel the multi biillion dollar Boeing 787 order. Effects alot of American employees and companies.
Check the trade imbalance people….free trade agreements that dont work….
just…..DONT BUY “MADE IN CHINA” Use your American head!
I’m wondering if it’s even possible to avoid goods made in China. If you want to buy a TV or computer, surely at least some parts are bound to be of Chinese manufacture.
I think you’re right, Bill; it’s very hard to avoid them. But I’m going to do what I can.

Yes. Since I’m a minion of Rove, I can confirm that he has used his mind ray to make US consumers buy goods from overseas in order to keep down inflation. It is section IV of The Evil Plan. Hail Rove.
Seriously though, if enough people avoid goods made in China for at least a little while it will have an effect. I think that the big wheels in China don’t really understand the power of consumers in the US and they may get a humbling lesson in the very near future.
