   Are you kidding me? He was terrible here in Florida. Thought that ‘smaller government’ meant ‘cheaper’ rather than ‘less intrusive’.

   Robb, you’re making the perfect the enemy of the good. Jeb was as conservative a governor as Florida is likely to elect, and he remains very popular: he would’ve been an odds-on favorite to beat whoever the Dems nominate. That can’t be said for any other GOP candidate: as much as I personally would love to see Marco Rubio in the US Senate, he has a lot less of a chance than Jeb would’ve had.
   Both parties will now have wide-open bloodbath primaries and who knows what’ll happen.

   The Bushes should be tarred and feathered and deported to Saudi Arabia.They could live where Ida
   Amin ( the dictator guy from Uganda) hid out.
   They are the most incompetent group to ever run
   this nation.They have destroyed everything they’ve touched.It’s amazing they don’t have to live in
   the Reichbunker and have SS troops protecting them.
   It is a sad testimonial to the decline of our nation
   that they are not living in exile.What Nixon did
   is a parking ticket to their incompetent treason

   Well, in spite of the fact that Jeb seems to be the most competent of the bunch I’m glad he’s not running. I am really disgusted by the dynastic trends in our politics of the past few decades. The combination of presumptuous arrogant families, a star-obsessed media and a lazy electorate have severely damaged our Republic.

   I agree, Mr. Bingley, we could use a break from Bush, Clinton and Kennedy family politicians. Although Jeb scores points over Princess Caroline, he was contemplating running for office rather than demanding an appointment.
   Besides, elected office isn’t the only avenue to serve the country. Jeb has a foundation through which he can do public service work.

   Dave, I disagree. I don’t have the 7 or 8 pages of stuff I disagreed with Jeb on when he was in office in front of me, but I didn’t think he did that great of a job, especially coming from a conservative point of view. He wasn’t a disaster by any stretch of the imagination, and there were some bright moments in his tenure. I just don’t like that kind of squishy-RINO nor do I like the dynasty thing.
   You are correct though, we’ll probably get something much, much worse to choose from (unless I actually get off my ass and officially declare my intent to run).
   And THS – Nice vacation. Just stayed at home for two weeks. It’s only Wed. and I’m already pining for the salad days of waking up at 9:00 and lounging around in my PJ’s until 3.

   He was wise not to try. Obama won by running against Bush and W wasn’t even standing for reelection; can you imagine the frenzy if the Dems actually DID have a real, live Bush to campaign against? Wallace, Sullivan, and Weber would look like Belloq and the two Nazis after the Ark was opened.

    Jeb isn’t stupid. He saw what the media did to Dubya. He’s wise enough to sit back and let the electorate experience four years of Hope ‘N’ Change without having a Bush to bash to let off steam.
