I used to watch Crusader Rabbit and Roger Ramjet on AFRTS back when I was in 7th and 8th grade in Keflavik. We got to see all kinds of old shows that no one else my age has any normal expectation to see. Like the precursor to Star Trek, The Lieutenant. I liked that show even if there were only about 6 episodes. My favorite was when the Lieutenant left his home in Ocean Side to deliver an experimental radio to the military advisors in this quiet back water called Viet Nam.
Skylar:I liked the Lieutenant, too. It’s strange that
I was thinking about that show last week after watching
a movie that had Gary Lockhart in it.It’s a small
world.But,your memory is fantastic,I don’t remember
any of the stories.
Combat with Vic Morrow was my favorite show until
the Fugitive came out.I loved all those shows- those
were the days when TV was special..Oh,the freshness
of childhood when my brain was pure.
Ahem, Skyler, not Skylar.
The only other episode I can recall is the one where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton and one of his Marines had some trouble with the Oceanside Police. When I finally joined the Marine Corps I got a kick out of visiting that little town. Of course it had grown quite a bit since that tv show had aired.
Combat still is my favorite tv series ever. I have all the seasons on dvd. Vic Morrow has always been a big hero of mine.
Do you know, the first time I WestPac’d to Iwakuni (place of my birth) in ’84, the Lt. was STILL on the Forced Entertainment Network schedule? We all loved it, but, unfortunately, I was the only one old enough to have seen it’s original broadcast.
Mountain Man and I so LOVED our Saturday morning Crusader Rabbit, I sniffled a bit when I found this. I guess it was a regional cartoon because not many folks our age remember it.
I don’t think even you were watching tv during Crusader Rabbit’s original broadcasts. It’s original seasons were from 1950 to 1952.
The Lieutenant was first aired in 1963 and had only one season.
I don’t think even you were watching..
Oh, you DO love me, SkylEr!! And you’re right ~ I missed it by a couple years. MORE than a couple, actually. {8^P
An Island
And a little brother, too.
I hate cliff hangers.
But I see why you like the island!

Anul.
Folks your age don’t remember much in general, Sis.
