“Today, the world marks the passing of a brutal dictator who oppressed his own people for nearly six decades.
Fidel Castro’s legacy is one of firing squads, theft, unimaginable suffering, poverty and the denial of fundamental human rights.
While Cuba remains a totalitarian island, it is my hope that today marks a move away from the horrors endured for too long, and toward a future in which the wonderful Cuban people finally live in the freedom they so richly deserve.
Though the tragedies, deaths and pain caused by Fidel Castro cannot be erased, our administration will do all it can to ensure the Cuban people can finally begin their journey toward prosperity and liberty.
I join the many Cuban Americans who supported me so greatly in the presidential campaign, including the Brigade 2506 Veterans Association that endorsed me, with the hope of one day soon seeing a free Cuba.

I was DYING when they got that started.
Astounding, especially when considering that Carter is certainly old enough to remember the events that followed the Cuban Missile Crisis. The same Fidel Castro that the left are fawning over, almost beat the Muslims to the punch in terrorizing New York and the country. Following the Cuban Missile Crisis, as revenge, Castro plotted to detonate five hundred pounds of high explosive in Macy’s and Gimbel’s on Black Friday, ‘to kill as many Americans as possible. Fortunately, Hoover and the FBI uncovered the plot and thwarted the attack. Ironic that the SOB died on Black Friday. As for the idiot, Trudeau, he is a colossal embarrassment to all Canadians and has been since the day he became Prime Minister. I would love to see him and Trump in a room, just the two of them, to renegotiate Nafta.
Carter never found a dictator he wouldn’t suck up to, nor an ally he wouldn’t betray.
For all of his professed piety he’s a nasty, bitter, vengeful excuse of a human being. Much like the current occupant of the White House.
