Shoot, at first glance I thought it said “Sideshow” instead of “Slideshow.” Lord have mercy.
Actually, I think you had it right the first time, Kate.
You know, if our soldiers hid among little kids and our enemies killed both, I can easily picture that there would be a large and outraged population angry at those soldiers for putting civilians in harm’s way.
Over there, those kids are considered martyrs who have honored Islam. Thus there is no cost at all to Hamas for hiding behind them and getting them blown up along with themselves. The populace welcomes them rather than cuts them off, and then when something like this happens they reserve all their wrath for the infidels, and none at all for the idiots who cost those kids their lives.
Their grief is no doubt genuine; one wishes they would learn to avoid it by taking some responsibility beforehand.
