I really enjoyed most of that series on PBS.
I cannot tell you how proud and awe-struck I am of the people who fly those planes and the crew that makes it all happen.
That was a great series, not least because it also at least gave a glimpse of the life below decks that makes the tip of the spear possible. I salute the skill and courage of those aviators, but I’ll always be a champion for the enlisted grunts, no matter the service.
Jeez — that is both AWESOME and TERRIFYING to watch.
A salute to carrier pilots everywhere.
Boo! Blocked in Australia
Boo x 2, blocked in der Schweiz.
My god, that’s just amazing. 30 foot seas, the way that deck was moving and rolling…they couldn’t keep enough Depends in stock if I had to do that.
It is indescribably awesome! I spent a year and a half on Nimitz back in the 80’s. Watched flight ops as often as possible and worked up there a few times as a Corpsman. It is extraordinary what can be accomplished by a motivated crew.
(Oh, we Marines **heart** our corpsmen!!) The Nimitz, eh? WOWSAHS!
I’ve seen shows like this on the Military Channel and am way, way impressed with how well everyone gets through it.
Yow. Amen to all the above.
