   Tom Lehrer taught at my college. I’d never heard of him until my freshman year when we were all sitting in the dining hall and suddenly everyone started whispering and pointing at a seemingly ordinary guy who had just walked in. I asked who he was. My friends looked aghast and said “Tom Lehrer!” in almost a hallowed tone. I ended up auditioning for his American Musical class. I sang “Big Blue Phrog”, and he smiled when I did my big finish. That made it worth it, even though I didn’t get in the class. 🙂
