One of the cool things about growing up in the Seattle area (Tacoma, actually) was that we had a great AM radio station (“KJR, Seattle, Channel 95”). They played everything, some awful, some great, a lot in between. The summer of ’69 was hearing “The Israelites” almost everyday, someone at KJR loved that song.
BUAWHAHAHAHA!!! Dave, I was raised up around Bellingham, and KJR was our radio station of choice (although CFUN, an FM station out of Canuckistan, was equally appreciated). The best reception was at night, so we’d listen to KJR before going to bed. Yep, I first “The Israelites” on KJR!
Well, let’s play can you top this — 1969 songs.
I give you (with some serious clothes action and some lame white people type dancing) Desmond Dekker and the Aces:

Oh the games people play…
Oh, and yeah, that was 1969 too.
David, what a cool song! I’ve never heard that before. I heard a lot of Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley but never this. Thanks!
Kathy, that sure brings back some memories!

“Maria? The dictaphone caught fire again. Take a letter, please – address it to my electrician. Send a copy to my lawyer.”
My parents just painted their living room almost that shade of blue. Guess they’re going back to their dating years.
The first “real” job I had out of college was working at a law firm, and probably the dictaphone SHOULD have combusted on some of those lawyers.
