What I’m Drinking Tonight
Gosh, I’m not sure why I picked this wine up
The Columbia Crest Merlot/Cabernet Blend. I’m usually not a big fan of Washington State wines; I’ve nothing against them, really, but I just don’t drink them enough.
But boy is this a thick, unctuous yummy wine. If you like full bodied syrupy wine, this is your baby for $8. *warning* If such wines make you think “cough medicine” then this is not for you. I happen to like wines like this, but my Bride likes them not so much.
Which, sadly, means more for me.
Seriously, for $8 this is trés yum.
I’m left wondering how you are capable of fingerspeech. 😛
My husband often goes for the blends from the US, Chili, Argentina, and South Africa. They are way less expensive and he thinks they often taste much better than the straight up single grape wines of the same price.
I don’t do red. Not only are they generally too dry for me, they give me migraines. But I’ve found a bunch of whites I love. The drier Reislings (the sweet ones are way too sweet – never thought I’d say that), Pinot Grigios, and for something very light Chenin Blancs are terrific. I dislike Chardonnay so I stay well away from that even though it’s the most prevalent white out there.
I’ve only started drinking any wine at all about the last 4 years or so…
There are a whole bunch of wineries in eastern Washington these days. I didn’t know they had any up by Ellensburg, but I won’t hold that against you!
;-p
I’ll have to do a tasting of whites for you, Teresa.
And it sounds like the hubby has excellent taste!
Not that I swill much wine, but when I do it is frequently the Columbia Crest Two Vines Cabernet Sauvignon.
