I’m Back

Had a wonderful weekend with Crusader and family, and it seems Sis actually dodged a hurricane this time.
‘triffic.
Looting in NOLA. Nice.
I hope the cops shoot to kill.

How was there anyone left to do any looting? Buzzards.

  2. Depends what your definition of ‘dodged’ is. Yes, we missed the direct hit, but considering we had a 71 mph gust at freakin’ 4 this afternoon, I would be just as happy for this particular Dodge to ‘get the hell out of’, already! I’ve never seen a storm hang around this long and I am an reluctant expert on the hurricane front, so know therefore of what I speaketh.
    Forsooth.
On a lighter note, we’re leaving the boards up for a while.

I like leaving my shutters up for a while. It’s cozy.

  4. The Real JeffS says:

Welcome back, Mr. Bingley! Do you have the con again, or has THS relegated you to deck hand?

I though Bingley was the bartender?
On the hurricane front, the worst of this is far from over. More levees have broken in New Orleans since the storm has passed. It’s taking on more water now than during the storm. Pretty sad. I hope they can stop this soon.
My father-in-law lives in Biloxi. We haven’t heard anything from him since noon yesterday. All the phone lines are down. The beach highway (Hwy 90) through that area is destroyed. I can’t believe how massive this was.
I am amazingly upset with my father in law over this. He and his wife refused to leave. Her sons and their children went to their house. Basically, they left the “security” of hard-standing, on-a-foundation homes to go stay in my father-in-law’s mobile home that’s less than 1 1/2 miles from the beach.
I could care less what the parents did, but there are three children, all under the age of 5, with them. This was amazingly stupid of them. I’m having difficulty balancing my anger and my worry.
And on that note, I hope that everybodies family/friends in the effected areas are well.

Oh god cullen, i hope they are ok. i know exactly how you feel on the balancing act (looks at THS…)

  7. Lisa says:

I know I’m speaking ignorantly here, as someone who’s never been in a hurricane, but I don’t understand the mindset of the people who stay. Nothing I own is worth risking my life to keep.
I’m thinking of you today, Cullen. I hope you get good news soon.

  8. WunderKraut says:

Man Cullen, that is rough not knowing. I agree with Lisa, nothing I have is worth the risk, but I dont live on the coast. I can say that we got very little from this story. It tracking so far to the west spared us from the bad stuff. Nothing more than a few light rain showers and some breeze, which is a nice change.
God I am ready for Fall.
I hope everything turns out ok Cullen and I am glad to see that THS has a clear soul…how else do you explain the storms movement to the west? She either confessed or tossed that guy into the ocean. Either way, I am glad you guys are ok.

  9. Cullen says:

Thanks everybody! I’m not going to worry too much. I won’t let myself have an emotional dump until I know something for cetain. I appreciate everyone’s thoughts.
I’m also glad to hear that THS and crew are okay. Have we heard from anyone else in that area? Rob and crewe (ha,ha, pun intended)?

  10. Dave J says:

Cullen, I wish your relatives all the best. I’m worried sick as it is, and all my friends in New Orleans got out beforehand; I can’t imagine having someone I knew still unaccounted-for in the midst of all this.
