NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — The White House responded Thursday to concerns that the ban on drilling for oil in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico will cost the region thousands of jobs.
“The six month moratorium on deepwater drilling was instituted for a clear reason,” White House spokesman Ben LaBolt told CNN. “The President believes we must ensure that the BP Deepwater Horizon spill is never repeated.”
But Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said that prohibiting deepwater drilling could cost the state up to 6,000 jobs this month, and 10,000 jobs over the next few months, in a letter sent Wednesday to president Obama.
Doesn’t sound like the way to get out of this economic funk to me. But what the hell do I know.

Well I’m shocked, simply shocked at your negativity Bingster. The manufacture of those 431,000 clipboards was responsible for that net 41,000 surge in private sector employment. Couple that with the stimulus associated with the upcoming Cash for Clipboards in the fall and your talking real laser focus here. We are barely bouncing along the bottom here.
If you want to see something really scary pull the weeklies on X and FCX. It may be a tad too early but the slope of those rallies has failure written all over them.
We can always just count everybody all over again!

What’s going to happen when these temporary workers get laid off? It will spike umemployment rates and increase state costs,because unemployment insurance is a state cost.Or will the feds pay unemployment insurance.
It’s like a parody. Only not. It’s really happening. GAH.
