More reasons…
to keep driving my paid-for 20mpg BMW. I’m using less energy over the life of the vehicle.

Got you beat with my 16-18 mpg 1995 Wrangler. Instead of buying a new car, I simply had the engine rebuilt (and, um… enhanced while I was at it!). The car itself has 170k miles and the engine should get easily push it past 300k. Hell, I have to worry about the door hinges giving out before I’d have to worry about a new car. And, being paid off, gas would have to hit $5.25 and stay there before buying a new car made financial sense.
Mine is a 1989 525i, and I get about 15 mpg around town (4.11 rear end kills me), but over 25 mpg on the highway. But I have more room in the backseat of it, than in the front of either our Accord or Eclipse. Plus it only has 124k miles on it, and is just fun to drive.
I can run over shit. That alone is worth it 😉
Would you even notice if you crunched a Prius, Robb?
Yes, but I can take tight turns at 90-100 mph (gotta make sure it all works as advertised, right?), and not flip my vehicle or even spill my coffee. Plus i hope you have had the axles upgraded on your Wrangler, as the rear ones are crap, and I know folks who have lost wheels taking turns at normal speeds due to fatigue. I really like the new 4dr Wranglers, but have yet to see one in person around here.
No, you got the flipping out of your system with the bread truck…
Exactly! What was it Edison said about a thousand ways not to make a lightbulb? Heh…
(this is very macho and stirring, THS, no?)

1987 6 cyl. silver & black TIE fighter Nissan Pathfinder, 340,000+ miles on the original everything. Shackles, struts, light bar, towing/winch packages, welded steel plate bumpers, striking enough to be dubbed “The Commando Wagon” by Ebola’s HS classmates and STILL 15+ mpg around town WITH the A/C on.
My shit stomper beats YOURS ALL to hell, so THERE.
Yes, it is, Susanna. {8^P
I still suspect you climbed more stuff with a certain AMC product than you have with the Pathfinder, sis………….
Hey, back OFF, baby boy! I’M not the one who mentioned the bread truck 3 and a half with a forward somersault in the pike position.
The East German judges loved my performance, tho.
The Discount Chariot gets 30+ around town and 38 or so on the long drives. 120K miles. I hope to double that at least. The only downside is that I still have payments.
