Looters destroy mummies in Egyptian Museum: official
Looters broke into the Egyptian Museum during anti-government protests late Friday and destroyed two Pharaonic mummies, Egypt’s top archaeologist told state television.
…”Egyptian citizens tried to prevent them and were joined by the tourism police, but some (looters) managed to enter from above and they destroyed two of the mummies,” he said.
You knew it was only a matter of time. Besides, this is just the mob and not a concentrated religious purge. Yet.

Ugh. I want to run an Empire. And I want to kill all these dumbasses.

And not openly so. Yet.
They are not “looters”, they are criminals. Just shoot them.
Were they really destroyed or “liberated” from their oppressors at the museum? It wouldn’t be the first time antiquities were stolen during an uprising.
(Such a cynic, Mori! {8^P) The Eqyptians have a long and storied history as both the builders and looters of tombs, don’t they?
I think the “Egyptians” that built the Pyramids are a different bunch than the “Muslim Egyptians” that did the looting then and now.
I’ll side with Yojimbo though, shoot them, the looter/criminals, with extreme prejudice.
This also makes me question the wisdom of “repatriating” antiquities to their countries of origin, especially if those countries are or are in danger of becoming, unstable. Yeah, yeah, I know, that makes me an Imperialist Westerner. But is it really preferable to have stuff destroyed?
Twitterers saying the looters were cops.
Twitter is also saying the citizens (note that I’m not calling them subjects) have formed ad-hoc squads to stop the looters.
Don’t give up hope yet. The majority of those in the street are NOT Muslim Brotherhood.
Admittedly, Muslim Brotherhood will probably do their damndest to take over. But they haven’t yet.

You know that the Pharonic dead were mummified as an expression of religious beliefs, right? And that Muslims have no tolerance at all for other religions? And so this desecration makes sense now, doesn’t it?
