I’m no fan of John Edwards, but that’s just a stupid joke. It’s over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.
Last year it was “raghead.” This year it’s calling John Edwards a “faggot.” Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.

Regardless of what you think of Edwards this type of comment in a public forum is uncalled for and should be condemned. I don’t care what people say in private, and I don’t care if the meaning she intended was more “effeminate” than “homosexual”; it doesn’t matter. This is Ann just trying to get Anna Nicole Smith from the headlines.
If I say “Media Whore” does that mean I have to go to rehab too?

I stopped reading Coulter a few years ago, not because I necessarily disagreed with her, just because of shit like this. A little edge is fine in commentary, but this is more like a dull axe.
I’m even more disturbed by the audience reaction.
It might have passed as humor, of the viscious and biting sort that Coulter gets paid for, if it had the remotest association with the truth.
I’m no John Edwards fan at all. He doesn’t get my vote for being a manly man, but he’s hardly effeminate.
Dave is right. I don’t think anyone on either side of the aisle takes loonies like Coulter seriously except maybe other loonies but there were a number of people in the audience who laughed or clapped at that comment. That lends credibility to the “it’s not just Coulter” charge. On the hopeful side, it might limit the number of speaking engagements at mainstream events she’ll be invited to.
Yeah, thanks, Ann…..like we need more nutbag charges against “conservatives”.
