O’Reilly’s wrong when he claims it’s a violation of the 1st Amendment.
It’s ESPN’s right to refuse any advertisement for any reason.
Just as it’s our right to call ESPN a bunch of godless heathens who should be flogged with holly wreaths.
I had to agree, aelfheld. ESPN isn’t obligated to run any particular ad. But since when did religion become considered unseemly in the public sphere? Considering the constant sludge of vulgarity and stupidity that is cable TV, it’s funny to think that this innocuous ad would be considered unairable.
ESPN did reverse themselves. It doesn’t change the fact that they were beyond idiotic enough to get themselves into this bind in the first place.
