Nancy “Friggin’ GEEnius” Pelosi harangues the house for 19 minutes just before the vote, blaming it all on the Republicans.
    Smooth move, Ex-Lax.
So whadda ya think? Intentional, or just dumber’n dirt?

At 3:25 the Dow is down over 700 points and that’s from CNBC.com so I don’t even think it’s real time. NAS and S&P are down 8 percent, with a half hour to go. Yikes.

  3. Intentional, or just dumber’n dirt?

Took the cheap shot thinking she had the votes no matter what she said, because of the urgency to get the deal passed.
    What a BITCH.

  4. The_Real_JeffS says:

Yep, she’s a bitch, and a soulless, blood sucking one at that.
I just wish the Republicans had swallowed that bitter pill, and not gone nuclear. Allah at Hot Air points out (rightly, I think), that the House Republicans truly screwed the pooch by this vote.

  5. While everyone overlooks the 40% of Democrats that voted it down.
    DAMMIT! These people are MAHROONS!!!!

  6. Retread says:

Pelosi is dumber than dirt, and ungracious with it. She is mistaking who her enemy is, it isn’t other Americans.
As for Allah, this is just his cup of tea. He enjoys misery and has let himself be panicked.
If this is truly the crisis the politicians say it is they’ll put another deal together. None of them have done a very good job of trying to explain to voters why this isn’t just a Wall Street problem and the bill the House voted down today didn’t contain anything clearly signaling a change to be implemented that would prevent the same thing happening again.
The news shows tonight have lots of people saying Pelosi has a majority and therefore enough Democratic votes to pass a bill without even a single Republican vote. Huh? Then why didn’t it pass today? What am I missing?

  7. The_Real_JeffS says:

Sis, 40% of the Democrats did indeed vote against it. But you know who will be blamed and why. Identify politics suck, but the left plays that game really, especially with the genuine morons.
That said, I must say I’m glad it failed. Retread has it right, if this is a genuine crisis, the politicians will hammer together something. If it ain’t, oh well!
As for Allah….yes, he’s a cynic, and I do lean in that direction myself. But that doesn’t mean his analysis concerning the House Republicans is wrong. The right thing to do at the wrong time, more or less.
Perhaps I should note that I feel for them right now; I made a comment in sheer emotional reaction, equally as public, and while I don’t regret it, I am not looking forward to the consequences. Were I in their shoes when San Fran Nan went nuclear on them, I would have likely told the bitch to get f**k herself as well. And felt exactly the same way afterwards.

PS: For what it’s worth, Lord Karl ain’t happy as well.

I think it’s a bit soon to tell if it’s the right thing to do at the wrong time. If the Republicans come up with a more practical alternative plan that helps the real problem, that is the drying up of credit for things other than sub-prime non-performing mortgages, they’ll be seen as actually trying to help. I know that’s a big if but it’s time somebody showed some real leadership instead of this Chicken Little ‘the sky is falling’ stuff we’ve had for the last week.
Maybe a couple of days off for the Jewish holiday I can’t spell will give everybody some time to cool down and think. Wall Street will exhaust itself and the bargain hunters will help to put the brakes on. Deere & Co isn’t worth 15 percent less this afternoon than it was at 9:30 this morning and that goes for alot of other companies, excepting banks, of course.
I wonder how much the new short rules contributed to the free fall today. There is a theory that shorters can actually help slow a market fall but I don’t understand enough about it to do more than put it out there for others’ comments.
