In addition to the 1myn bond DSK must provide 5 myn in flight risk insurance (I wonder which insurance company will sell it to him and for how much?) and he had to sign away his French non-extradition rights. Now he’s either got to prove that the sex was consensual or introduce enough reasonable doubt that the jury fails to convict him on most if not all six counts. That means the junkyard dogs will be out in full force for the Guinean hotel maid. Her life will just get worse and worse – until she agrees to settle.
The maid’s allegations seem credible but I can’t understand why such a prominent and thus vulnerable man would have taken such a risk. Maybe he has some kind of dementia that interferes with impulse control (scary thought, considering his job). Or maybe he did order an escort to come up to his room and he mistook the maid for the “service provider,” only realizing his mistake when it was too late. Either way it doesn’t look too good for him.
NJ Sue the list of “prominent” men who have done this sort of risky thing although maybe not rape, is long, endless in fact. I don’t agree that he realized his mistake when it was too late, was it because she was distraught, wouldn’t take any money? No, if her story is true this guy just flat out raped her because he could. I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that he gets on a G-5 sooner than later and holes up in Frogland, they won’t extradite him no matter what.

Yes, he may have signed over his rights but la belle bleeping France hasn’t. Some judge, magistrate,whatever will still have to formally agree to remand him to United States custody. The French would undoubtedly let him fight the order at that time.
