Bugs Bunny Would Be Proud

Be very wary if she sets the knob to “Extra Vixen”

ASSOCIATED PRESS: A Utah woman has been sentenced to 30 days at home with an ankle monitor for blindfolding her husband and promising him a surprise before hitting him in the head with a hammer three years ago.

Now, after I laughed at this I thought imagine if it was the husband who El Kabonged his bride; somehow I think the sentence might be a tad more severe, no?

So like any good sleuth I searched Teh Internets for some more info

Gustin said Ricks has no memory of the hammer attack because she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. But she knows she did it because she told a dispatcher about it during a 911 call, Gustin said.

Court records indicate the defense was preparing to claim at trial that Ricks was the victim of Battered Spouse Syndrome. Gustin on Tuesday declined to comment about trial strategy.

According to charging documents, Ricks and her husband, Joel Ricks, were out on a date when she drove him to her mother’s Holladay condo.

Saying she had a surprise for him, Ricks blindfolded her husband and led him to the basement, where she spun him around, told him to count to 100 and then began striking him with a hammer, according to court documents.

…Joel Ricks, who suffered only minor injuries, told sheriff’s deputies that sleeping bags had been spread on the floor under his feet, and that nearby he saw a 9-inch-long kitchen knife inside a plastic bag.

What the HELL?!?!? And she only gets 30 days at home?

Very odd.

    Hammer time. Can’t touch this.

I’m just going to say I can’t remember parking my car next to an expired meter when that next ticket comes along. I suffer from Battered City Driver Syndrome.

That’s because a woman did it… she couldn’t POSSIBLY be held responsible… only men can be held responsible. You see it goes like this:

If you’re a woman and you do something horrific – it’s because a man made you do it and the man must die.

If you’re a man and do something horrific – it’s because you are evil and now you must die.

Isn’t that simple. No thinking necessary. Certainly a woman can not be evil and even more certainly all men must die.

    Heh.

Meh. Tell me when it’s made into a Lifetime movie.

Maybe the knife wasn’t long enough?

These days, who knows what non-logic lurks in the minds what run the judicial system.

  6. Greg Newsom says:

Lorena Bobbit got 30 days in an asylum, if a man had cut off a woman’s dingy thing he’d been doing life without parole.

“had him count to 100.” WTF?

  8. Cullen says:

Not to belittle the seriousness of this incident, but it does go a little ways toward proving how stupid we men can be at times. “Gee wonder what these bags on the floor are for? Wonder what that knife is for? Who cares, I’m getting laid!”

  9. Mr. Bingley says:

All too often it really does come down to that, doesn’t it, Cullen?
