Damn

Singer-actor Jerry Reed dies at age 71
Country star gained widespread fame for ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ role

I always thought he was great.
In honor of Jerry, Gustav and Cajuns in general, one of my favorite songs concerning what happened about forty-five minutes south of Thibodeaux, Lousiana (aka: “Tippee Toe, Looosiana”)...The “City of New Orleans”.

Changed my mind. “Tippee Toe” in the extended section.

Maybe I’m showing my age, but I mostly knew him for “The Streak.”
Back in 1976 that was pretty risque stuff to a 13 year old boy!

  2. (I’m not sure WHAT you’re showing, but “The Streak” was Ray Stevens.)

  3. Gunslinger says:

Rest in peace, Snowman. Fred will be waiting for you.

  4. Skyler says:

Well. Go figure. I guess Jerry was still a good guy too. I could have sworn it was him.

  5. Yeah, and you were 8 years old when William Ayers…oh, wait. Wrong young’un {8^P.
Smokey and the Bandit ring a bell?
Oddly enough, major dad and I just stumbled across it on, like, Versus or something last week and it’s held up pretty well. Gleason was hilarious, but Reed and ol’ Fred? When that basset takes off across the pond?
    Oh, man. We were dying.
