Don’t Touch My Junket!

Ya know, I’m staring to like the TSA

A top House Democrat said the attack on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) should change how members of Congress are screened at airports.

“I really believe that that is the place where we feel the most ill at ease, is going through airports,” Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), who serves as assistant minority leader in the House, said on “Fox News Sunday.”

Clyburn called for the Transportation Security Administration, which administers airport security checkpoints, to interact “a little better” with the Capitol Hill Police.

We’ve had some incidents where TSA authorities think that congresspeople should be treated like everybody else,” he said. “Well, the fact of the matter is, we are held to a higher standard in so many other areas, and I think we need to take a hard look at exactly how the TSA interact with members of Congress.”

I think that absolutely everyone who flies commercial, everyone from Cabinet Members to car wash attendants, should have to go through the exact same security procedures.

And be subject to all the same laws and regulations.

And if someone can explain to me the logic of “A top House Democrat said the attack on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) should change how members of Congress are screened at airports” I’d be much obliged.

I can only guess that it derives from the Democratic Unfied Underpants Gnomes Theory.

    Oh, clever title, Bingley.

Buy a ticket someplace, why don’t you?

  3. Skyler says:

He’s right. Congress critters should not be treated like everyone else. They should be treated with utter contempt and like the thieves they are.

  4. major dad says:

He feels most ill at ease in an airport? Must be because of all those little people. WTF is wrong with these guys? And held to higher standard?! He’s delusional.

  5. Gary from Jersey says:

TSA should give ’em a break. How else will they get Barney Frank to leave the airport?

  6. JeffS says:

Make those Congresscritters fly on C-130s everywhere. That’ll keep ’em out of the airports.

  7. mojo says:

I think any member of congress who shows up at an airport ought to get the full ride. Strip search, with probe.

  8. Gunslinger says:

Congressional members should be made to travel with the luggage.

Id go a step futher, every new piece of legislation MUST be inflicted on the area a politician lives in first.

TheyMUST obey every law they pass, and 24/7 surveilance is compulsory… After all if they wrote the law then they know it cant be abused by petty functionaries dont they?

Oh and the auditors for this are people who have been selected by the IRS for a review last year and come out clean…
