For the Bingster and Suzette
Words escape me.
Chicken Salad Mold
1 (10 3/4-ounce) can chicken and rice soup
1 (3-ounce) package lemon Jell-O
1 (5-ounce) can chicken
1 (8-ounce) carton sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Heat soup (do not add water). Add lemon Jell-O and stir until dissolved. Cool. In a separate bowl, mix all other ingredients. Fold into Jell-O mixture and spoon into a mold or 8-inch-by-8-inch dish. Chill.
To the instructions I can only add: bury in backyard.
Just bury the salad. You can eat the mold.
Any kind of mold ~ typical backyard slime or Katrina induced wall sludge ~ sounds better than that salad.
Hmm, not wild about the pecans. I’ll substitute something…
I dunno,THS…..sounds interesting. Maybe add some ground pepper, for that “lemon & pepper” taste, drop out the pecans……
drop out the pecans
Oh. Right. The one ingredient I can stomach in the whole revolting list and you clowns want them gone…
I’ll mail ’em to you.
There’s your Christmas Brunch right there.
Too bad there’s no photo. I bet it’s nice and pale yellow, like schmaltz.
Sound great to me! You get:
Appetizer- chicken and rice soup
Main course- chicken
Side- celery
Dessert- lemon Jell-O
in each helping! Three courses, plus sides. What’s not to like, plus sour cream, mayo and pecans, to boot.
NIMBY
Eww.
Where do I find a 5 oz can of chicken? Is that kind of like a can of tuna?
I may, just may make this.
Bingley, what do you have against pecans?
The standard tuna can is a little over 6oz, so look for the canned chicken near it in the similar sized can. Should not be more than 2-3 brands of canned chicken on the shelf, so if you blink, you will miss it.
Ah, they just don’t do it for me.
You’re not supposed to actually use the recipes in the Lileks book, Ms. Sister.
Ah, c’mon Sharon GR, I’ve got a great Pie to go with this! This is Jersey cuisine!
A Swill welcome, btw.
The Cult of All-purpose Canned Soup, she is spreading!
All right, THS ,you got me back for the mistletoe comments. This is DISGUSTING. Looks like something they might have served in my middle school caf, though.
Seems like a lot of trouble for dog food. I’m sure my Lab would chow it down though.
Don’t be too sure about that, Dave…
(John ~ lalalala, back atcha, lalala, back atcha…bon apetit!)
Mistletoe? Eww
“Where do I find a 5 oz can of chicken? Is that kind of like a can of tuna?”
I think they use midget chickens for this. Or is than “bantam”?
Lemon jello, mayo and chicken. Together. Eww.
