(Reuters) – Former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi died of wounds suffered in his capture near his hometown of Sirte on Thursday, a senior NTC military official said.

And, a little further down, then there’s this nugget:
“Qaddafi is dead. He is absolutely dead … he was shot in both legs and in the head. The body will be arriving in Misrata soon,” media spokesman Abdullah Berrassali told Sky News.
He definitely died from his wounds, but that’s a variation on the double tap, so I’d bet good money that Qaddafi was executed on the spot, after some gloating by his captors. Frankly, I can think of only a few people who deserved it more, but jeez, let’s call it for what it is, huh?
And double standards exist, even on Fox — if US troops had executed even a lowly private like this, the headlines would be a lot different.
But a bunch of Muslims/rebels/freedom fighters? Hey, Qaddafi died of his wounds!
And now what of Libya? Chaos, stable state or hotbed for terrorist wanna be’s?
Hotbed for terrorist wanna be’s gets my vote. All hail this shift to diversity. From a single autocratic dictator to a diffuse set of autocratic dictators. And let’s not forget that “redistribution” of military assests from the Sinai to Afghanistan. What’s not ta like here?
