Good to Know Teh Present Has the Country’s Interest at Heart

NOT

A Republican aide e-mails me: “The Speaker, Sen. Reid and Sen. McConnell all agreed on the general framework of a two-part plan. A short-term increase (with cuts greater than the increase), combined with a committee to find long-term savings before the rest of the increase would be considered.

Sen. Reid took the bipartisan plan to the White House and the President said no.

A BI-PARTISAN plan. Presented TODAY.

The bilious bastard.

UPDATE: From Boehners Twitter feed just now:

@SpeakerBoehner
Speaker John Boehner
President Obama wants a $2.4T blank check to get him through the next election, w/out cuts; this is indefensible.

He’s absolutely right.

But without the bully pulpit ~ as we have a completely irresponsible media ~ how to make him OWN it?

Our Prez=douche bag of the highest order.

But it’s still the Republican’s fault right?

  3. JeffS says:

Obama just threw Reid under the bus. Imagine that.

You know how he owns it? Through the ballot box. The major media organs no longer control the message – the gates are down and the gatekeepers are increasingly shouting “Keep out!” to throng of folks who just wander past them, reading alternate media sites on their phones.

The compliant media is already dying out, precisely because of their compliance.

  5. Yojimbo says:

Sounds like Reid tried to do something constructive. I was afraid he was incapable of acting in the best interests* of the country.

*If you think another committee to find long-term spending cuts is actually in the best interest of the country, that is. Frankly, the committee that counts will meet in November of 2012.

  6. JeffS says:

More like Reid is covering his own six, Yojimbo, by helping to make Obama own this fiasco.

    What, me, cynical? Naw!
