I Wonder If the Washington Post

…checked with the family of EE-VILLE Mitt Romney’s poor victim before they started this rapidly imploding mess?

It doesn’t sound like they did.

…Christine Lauber, who is a few years older than John Lauber, was at college when the alleged incident happened, and said the brother and sister were “doing our own thing” at the time.

When ABC News showed her the story, Christine Lauber’s eyes welled up with tears and she became agitated.

She also corrected the story, saying her brother was a boarder, not a day student.

She described her brother as a “very unusual person.”

“He didn’t care about running with the peer group,” Christine Lauber said. “What’s wrong with that?”

Betsy Lauber, one of John Lauber’s three sisters, spoke with ABC News Tuesday night regarding the accuracy of the story.

“The family of John Lauber is releasing a statement saying the portrayal of John is factually incorrect and we are aggrieved that he would be used to further a political agenda. There will be no more comments from the family,” she said.

Did you know Obama shoves little girls and still brags about years later?

Now THAT’S a guy with a problem.

H/T Ed Driscoll.

ths update: And the WaPo edits go down the rabbit hole:

Today’s unconscionable Washington Post story, which implied without evidence that Mitt Romney was a homophobic bully to one John Lauber back in his high school days five decades ago, has totally imploded.

…[Stu] White didn’t know about the incident until this year, but the Post reported that he had “long been bothered” by it. We demanded a correction.

So the Washington Post did what no reputable newspaper should ever do when caught falsifying testimony: it made a stealth correction to its own article…

Screencaps are forever.

Like the Washington Post March.

ths UPDATE: Believe or not, “Automobile Magazine” (I sh*t you not) has just dropped ‘Romney does High School’ interviews with ALL the SAME play-yahs!

Caution: AutoMag’s results may be different than WaPo’s…odd, that.

  1. Gary from Jersey says:

Automobile Magazine is unusually liberal for a car book. There was no reason for that profile (except for the very thin link to Romney’s stint at American Motors) except to dredge up a 50-year-old incident. They tried to make it balanced, but read the whole thing and count the knife holes in his back.

  2. Syd B. says:

MSNBC has confirmed that George Zimmerman was also a participant in the Lauber incident.

    Your mileage may vary.
