I’m Sure They’re Referring to Behavior Exhibited

…during the Bingley/Diptera Cheesy Fries Road Trip.

…The new poll’s results were consistent among drivers of cars, pickups and SUVs. There were few regional differences among drivers, although northeasterners were more likely than drivers in the rest of the country to have “shouted, cursed or made gestures to other drivers” in the past year.

Male bonding is revolting ~ especially when food’s involved.

  1. John says:

According to the insurance industry, the North East also has the dumbest drivers, Rhode Island and Mass worst, then Washington DC, then New York and New Jersey, then Maryland and Connecticut. If you live in either New England or the Greater DC area, you’re screwed.

  2. Mr. Bingley says:

    Hmmm, cheesefries…

  3. (Or if you’re a moron, MOVE there and save the rest of the country the irritation of your presence.)

  4. “I broke my middle finger! Now how am I supposed to drive?”

  5. Nightfly says:

I’ve always thought that the insurance industry is covering its fundament with stuff like that, John. The Northeast is just really congested. By definition that means a higher chance of encountering some dimbulb (or some dimbulb’s fenders).
Well, far be it from us mild-mannered cheez-fry lovers to cast aspersions. I’ll say that we did witness much of what the article says, but participate? With young Ms. Bingley and the Ladybug along with? Surely you jest.
Oh, and did anyone catch this from the article? “Americans have been loving their cars for about a century, buying increasingly bigger, faster and more expensive cars while the rest of the world moves toward economy and efficiency.”
A-yep. America Bad. Got it. I was afraid I’d go ten minutes without being reassured that we were still the Great Gaia-Killers.

  6. Mr. Bingley says:

Oh, we’re not “killers”, ‘Fly; we’re “molesters” and “rapers”, “violaters”, etc. Much more exciting stuff, really.
And were quite the very model of civility on our drive, as you correctly allude to.

  7. Mr. Bingley says:

Er, make that “And we were quite the very model of civility on our drive, as you correctly allude to.”
    I’d like to buy a pronoun for 100, Jack…

  8. the very model of civility
Only because you didn’t want to chance losing cheese from your flying fingers…

  9. John says:

Fly – I might buy that if it were a subjective measure, but it’s a freaking test of the rules of the road. The NE would come out even lower if they observed actual behavior. I’ve lived in 3 areas of the US: the South, the Midwest, and the NE. THE NE has the worst drivers, hands down. Even on non-congested roads, CT, RI, and MA drivers are idiots. NY and NJ have a wider distribution.

  10. Crusader says:

I dunno John, having lived here in NC for the better part of the last 20 years, I have to say the drivers here are much worse than what I ever encountered in NJ/NY. But YMMV.

  11. That’s true. YOU’RE there.
