It’s Hard To Believe

On one hand it doesn’t seem like it’s been this long, yet on the other it seems like it’s been forever. You see, 10 years ago today was the first time any of us ever heard the name “Monika Lewinsky.”
Oh sure we all heard the whispered stories about JFK and movie stars, but, I don’t know, maybe it should be chalked up to glassy-eyed nostalgia or foolish innocence, but the idea that the President, our President, would do something so base in the freakin’ White House for gosh’ sakes was just simply beyond my imagination, and it has forever scarred how we view both the office and its holder.

I was stationed in Quantico when Clinton took office. The stories that kept filtering back to us from former colleagues that had become secret service agents were sufficient to make the Monica stories completely believable. Specifically, the worst story that I heard that I still believe because of the credibility to me of the person who related it to me is that Hillary was having lesbian trysts in her bedroom at the White House. This secret service agent complained about moral objections to guarding her and was reassigned.

Ah, yes, Billy Jeff and his escapades in the Oval Office. Such is the nature of the Clinton Clan™. Between their decadence and Carter’s narcissism, they turned the White House into a fraternity house.

  4. Dave J says:

I heard the name the day before. I was a senior in college and my former roommate also interned at the White House.

  5. Mr. Bingley says:

Was her name given out on a “kneed-to-know” basis, Dave?
