Japan Gets Pounded

A massive massive quake has hit Japan. Look at what has hit them in the last five hours (newest first) after this 8.9 monster struck. They’ve had 6.8 and 7.1 aftershocks.

Keep them in your prayers and I’ll post relief info as I get it.

I have many business associates in Tokyo and the area just to the North of the city, I haven’t been able to get in touch with them since 4:00 this morning. I’m a bit concerned.

Horrible. Just horrible. The pictures…Oh, Lord. And now the waiting for the tsunami. The first US predicted hit is Kauai, at around 8 EST, which should tell what sort of wave. The sea levels have already risen two feet (!!!) at Guam, so…God, your brain runs rampant.

All you West Coast Swillers, head for higher ground, just to be safe. And take care of yourselves.

    So horrible.

Fortunately, I live well back from the coast, but I have family there.

They all live well back from the shore line, and the wave amplitudes are fairly low. But things could get interesting. I’ll be calling them, especially my brother, the island dweller.

My husband knows a number of people in Japan through business. As always when mother nature displays her wrath it’s heart wrenching. I did find a blogger from Tokyo who had a most excellent post

Interestingly he has just gone through the waiting for news on family in NZ during their quake and he imparts some excellent advice.

I did the quick Red Cross $10 text donation. I figure there will be more donation links up and going in a day or two.
