July 1st, 1863

150 years ago today the Battle of Gettysburg began.

It seems like such a long, long time ago but it really wasn’t: for many of us our great-great grandparents were alive then.

   One of my ancestors died at the Battle of Gettysburg, I wish my grandparents had written the history of our family down..because I don’t have a name to associate with the ancestor.

   The last Civil War veterans died in the 1950s. Not as long ago as it may seem.
