Yeah.
That one.
Rest in peace, Mr. Newman. You were a fine, fine figure of a man human being.

Likewise on “The Hustler”. Also “Cool Hand Luke”.

On sports radio it was said that if he would have started auto racing in his early 20’s Paul Newman would have been a Formula One champ.
Newman’s Own raises millions for charity.
And he is a movie star who stayed married to the same woman for a gazillion years.
And he never experienced a “failure to communicate”.

  6. The Sting is my personal favorite. Followed by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Newman and Redford were at their best as a team.

I kinda liked “Long Hot Summer” myself. He and Joanne were damned good together.
But “Cool Hand Luke” was far and away his best.

Lots of great stuff. I have a soft spot for Slap Shot myself, of course… but he was even good as a talking sedan in Cars. And he was charitable and faithful to his wife in a world where that is rare.
He has it all over Redford in every way. (Even kept his looks much better, though that’s a minor consideration.)

  9. Judie says:

Sexiest three words in a movie EVER…
    “Lock the door.”
