Ill. Rep Requests National Guard Help Stop Chicago Violence

CHICAGO, Ill. (IRN) – Gun violence in Chicago is so severe that a state lawmaker wants state police and the National Guard to assist the local cops.

State Rep. Monique Davis (D-Chicago) is making the request.

“I am requesting with this press conference that Gov. Patrick Quinn order the Illinois National Guard (and) the Illinois State Police (to) come to Chicago and work with our mayor Ron (sic) Emanuel to provide safety for the childre, especially,” she said at a news conference in Springfield.

Oh, she pulled out the old “for the CHILDREN“!!! WHY? Because, at this rate:

…Over the holiday weekend, 74 people were shot and 12 killed in Chicago, and Davis says the police don’t have the manpower to make arrests.

…there won’t be any children left to keep Democrats in office there.

Back when I was in the Illinois ARNG, a lot of Chicago cops were in the Guard. So calling them up for state duty in Chicago would just mean a change of uniforms and weapons for some. I can’t see that as a game changer.

And a lot of Guard soldiers (for units within the Chicago urban sprawl) were gang members. So calling them up for state duty in Chicago would just mean a change of uniforms and weapons.

And if they brought in Guard units from outside of Cook County? Who have little love for that state within a state known as “Chicago”? Springfield certainly had little love — or trust — for any Chicago based units.

Might be some spectacular fire fights in the making, all in all.

Of course, I was in the ILARNG back in the late 1980’s. Things might have changed since then. Somewhat. Possibly.

…so, it’s sorta like Hezbolla vs Al Queda in Syria – no downside if we leave it alone??

    Yes, I know…
