Problems? No Problems Here!

Everything is fine!

The euro zone could launch its European Financial Stability Facility safety net for struggling members even if Slovakia fails to ratify a beefed-up EFSF, Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger said in a radio interview on Wednesday.

But he said he assumed Slovakia would still approve the fund despite domestic political wrangling that brought down the government on Tuesday.

“If Slovakia does not approve then we have to reevaluate. That means we either we install the safety net nevertheless — we have to see if that is possible legally. I personally would favor this.”

Remember the scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade…

Watch them start running soon.

On the one hand Slovakia has been beneficiary of boku Bucks and Euros “invested” to help them join the Eurozone. But I have to credit Slovak taxpayers’ expression that paying for credit with credit is a bad financial idea. Unfortunately all those real smart people who run banks didn’t understand that a few years ago, or more likely didn’t care – as long as it didn’t impact their personal bank balances.

    The EFSF theme song:

And we will all go together when we go.

What a comforting fact that is to know.

    Universal bereavement,

    An inspiring achievement,

Yes, we all will go together when we go.

    With apologies to Tom Lehrer

Don’t know if it’s legal but what the heck, let’s go for it anyway.

Legal frameworks? We don’t need no stinking legal frameworks!
