Quote of the Day

“The entering quality of our student body needs to be much higher if we are going to transform bright minds into great achievers instead of transforming mush into mush, and I mean it.”
-University of Richmond President William E. Cooper

And, of course, they want him out of there.

  1. Mr. Bingley says:

He’s right. Sadly, there are far too many kids in college now who simply shouldn’t be there. Many of them are not well prepared for higher education, and a lot of them would be better served by learning a trade.
But since college has now become 13th grade it’s getting dumbed down. As he said, there’s not much one can make out of mush.

  2. Ken Summers says:

But part of the issue is also the 31% increase in tuition, which seems a tad excessive. Still, he’s right about the students who aren’t prepared for college.

  3. Nightfly says:

Thirteenth grade? If only. It’s more like tenth or eleventh when compared to what we learned in high school. The guy made it worse by pulling the standard mea culpa. “Never apologize; your friends don’t need to hear it and your enemies won’t believe you anyway.”

  4. I think what he was trying to say was that he wanted many more “open minded” students so the professors could feed them with the status quo liberal bull.
