US Reliance on Saudi Oil Heads Back Up

The United States is increasing its dependence on oil from Saudi Arabia, raising its imports from the kingdom by more than 20 percent this year, even as fears of military conflict in the tinderbox Persian Gulf region grow.

The increase in Saudi oil exports to the United States began slowly last summer and has picked up pace this year. Until then, the United States had decreased its dependence on foreign oil and from the Gulf in particular.

Just fricking PEACHY. Remember this when The Present starts his BS about how he’s made us “more energy independent than ever”. You know what his big answer is? The classic election year, knee-jerk/cover-your-ass:

Report: Obama might release oil reserves

President Obama will consider releasing oil from the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve if increased sanctions on Iran cause costs to rise, according to a report on Friday.

Officials have a plan ready if gasoline prices do not fall after Sept. 3, according to Reuters. Historically, gas prices drop after the Labor Day holiday.

Is there another pipeline we can cancel or deep-sea rig we can watch get towed away forever?

Has EVERYTHING Obama touched gone into reverse? Sure seems like it.

Oh, and what if it turns into a shooting war? Gott im Himmel. We are so BONED with this dork.
