So Where Does It Stop?

So The One declares

“To brush aside America’s responsibility as a leader and — more profoundly — our responsibilities to our fellow human beings under such circumstances would have been a betrayal of who we are,” Obama said. “Some nations may be able to turn a blind eye to atrocities in other countries. The United States of America is different. And as president, I refused to ask for wait for the Constitutionally required Congressional authorization the images of slaughter and mass graves before taking action.”

What about “our responsibility to our fellow human beings” in the Ivory Coast?

DAKAR, Senegal — At least 700,000 people have fled their homes in Ivory Coast’s main city, Abidjan, to escape the increasing violence and collapsing economy stemming from the nation’s political crisis, the United Nations said Friday.

Daily gunfire spurred by Laurent Gbagbo’s efforts to stay in power after losing a presidential election in November has pushed thousands of residents out of neighborhoods surrounding the city’s central districts, while the closing of banks and businesses have led to widespread unemployment.

Oh wait, Europe doesn’t get any oil from the Ivory Coast.

My bad.

There is absolutely no reason for us to be involved in Libya.

None.

“No blood for oil!” is highly selective, huh?

And right about now, there’s $600+ and counting million reasons even MORE not to be there, especially if we’re NOT gonna KILL that asshole AND give command of our kids to foreigners!

  3. Gary from Jersey says:

Ivory Coast was a French colony. Its troops massacred people in the capital a few years ago to support the guy people want to get rid of now.

The French military ran a teenage sex slave ring in Congo as members of the UN “peacekeeping force” and now they got us into Libya.

God, we have some stupid leadership.

This Libya thing is a complete clusterfuck. The “no-fly zone” has now turned into interdiction missions and we have clearly chosen sides in a civil war. Now we have some saying ground troops may be needed? Good God what is wrong with these people.
