The Airspace Over the Front Yard…

…will shortly be smokin’.

FrontYard Picture UPDATE:

Don’t anybody bother me. I’ll be out front.

Residents will be treated to a rare aerial spectacle today and Wednesday.
The Blue Angels will have some special high-flying company during their practice shows at Pensacola Naval Air Station: the Air Force’s Thunderbirds precision flight team, the Army’s Golden Knights parachute team, the Navy’s Leap Frogs parachute team and Canadian Armed Forces Snowbirds precision flight team.

UPDATE: Okay, I know it’s a grainy pixelated mess, but they’re just warming up and so am I. Thunderbirds and the neighbor’s Blue Roof. Welcome to Pensacola.

GAWD I love the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds

  2. Ain’t they fab??!! Bingster and I have seen the T-Birds and the Snowbirds at the same airshow before (of course, almost spoiled by Bingley the Aircraft Thief), and the Snowbirds rock their ownselves, too. I can’t believe they’re all here together. We watched everybody come in Sunday evening (our house sits under the approach for Sherman Field-the Scottie chases the Blues across the yard as they come over) and were wondering ‘what’s up with that?’ Then it hit the fishwrap today. Wowsahs and woo-HOO!

  3. Mr. Bingley says:

    Buwahahahaha!
All photos from the 70s should be burned!

  4. Nightfly says:

Geez laweez, that looks like one airplane. It’s been too long since I’ve seen an airshow…

  5. Fly, wingtip to wingtip is 18 inches. That’s what they’re famous for. So you figure, that pic over Pensacola Beach is 3 F-18’s (the 2 in the picture and the one taking it). Google Images, for more fun stuff.

  6. Mr. Bingley says:

HAHAHAHA, THS you’ve the language on Google set to “Swedish Chef!” BorkBorkBork!

  7. I didn’t realize I got to share that, too! Welcome to my world. {8^P

  8. Ken Summers says:

I work close to Moffett Field, which the Angels usually use for their practice runs when here for a show. Way cool and FREE.

  9. (I can’t believe you haven’t said anything about the thief’s picture! It really is him, y’know. Or was before he lost all that..oh, never mind.)
We use to live for the week of the airshow at El Toro. They’d come in on a Wednesday and the place would be rockin’ and rollin’ ’til Sunday night. And all the aircraft that had been flown in for displays all week long would spend Monday taking off. Granted that doesn’t sound like much, but when you get an F-111, B-2, Tornado, F-117, etc. and on and on all taking off one after another, WOWSAHS! Awesome awesome awesome!
