The “Sandy” Relief Bill Vote

Why is Sandy in quotation marks?

Because those little piggies up there just can’t help themselves, even when it’s something simple.

Read Gabriel’s breakout of the proposed “relief” in the bill. Not much of it is named “Sandy”:

$3 million for oil spill research;
$25 million for the failed Head Start daycare program; and
$3.9 billion for a new HUD disaster program.

…for starters, in the “conservative-friendly” bill. ¿QUE?

Call your peeps’ offices and tell them vote NO.

    Government butterflying. What’s the big deal?

    Important to note that Chris Christie (whose reputation is shrinking rapidly in my book) helps by attacking the Republicans for blocking the pork, instead of attacking the Democrats for setting the bill up to fail. I initially liked Christie, but as time as moved on, it appears to me he’s just another RINO opportunist.

    Oh boy, am I ever through with Chris “McCain” Christie. As often as possible, Republicans should be pointing out what’s happening here – and if that means calling out the Gov as well, so be it.

    The problem as I see it, is that the porksters have set this up as a “you vote against this, you’re a HATER” bill. Instead of asking “Why is there so much unrelated crap in it?” it’s “Why do you hate the east coasters who are SUFFERING?”

    There’s not a lot of nuance in politics these days. Or maybe there’s too much. I don’t know. The hell with all of ’em.

  5. tree hugging sister says:

    Well, of course, ricki! They don’t want to piss off someone who might rain on their “slip-it-into-the-bill” parade somewhere further down the line.

    I’m calling my peeps and saying 100% for Sandy or ELSE. And I’m calling my other peeps (the real peeps – the people – specifically those I know -too many who got zapped by that hurricane) and letting them know about this idiocy.

    I just told my Congresscritter to vote “No”. We’ll see how that goes; she voted for the fiscal cliff monstrosity.
