The “Watch That Rabbit, It’s Dynamite!”

…Quote of the Day

“That was a controversial idea, to bring non-endangered rabbits and make them endangered.”

Really. That’s the plan.

“We need a new explosion of kits (babies) on the ground,” Monda said. “We need Washington genes on the ground.”
Is that anything like pants on the floor?

  2. JeffS says:

Conventional mating is difficult because female pygmy rabbits will only briefly tolerate the presence of males, and often fight with them, the scientists say.

Sounds like a lot of leftie females. No wonder the environmentalists want this species preserved.

  3. Skyler says:

Let’s see, they declare a type of rabbit to be a separate species, much like the “northern” spotted owl, for the purpose of declaring it “endangered” and then to repopulate they just introduce more of the species from an unendangered area just a few miles away.

And they spend a lot of money doing it.

They prove themselves liars and no one calls them on it. But at least THEY have jobs.

  4. Skyler says:

And what kind of “journalist” writes an article about little bitty bunnies and doesn’t include pictures. I guess maybe they aren’t cute enough? They probably look like rats, which is more consistent with environmentalists’ aims.

  5. Skyler says:

Ha! I was just guessing, but wikipedia supports my supposition:

“Although it is listed as an endangered species in the Columbia Basin of the Pacific Northwest in the United States, the International Union for Conservation of Nature lists the species as lower risk. This is because the Columbia Basin population is a genetically distinct isolated relict population well on its way to evolving into a distinct subspecies, whereas the IUCN only considers species as a whole.”

But they are indeed quite cute.

  6. Skyler says:

And tasty, so it would seem.

  7. JeffS says:

Yeah, but you’d have to catch a lot of them for a decent meal, Skyler.

And, in this case, that’s a feature, not a bug.

  8. tree hugging sister says:

Agreed, Skyler. Cute as all get out. (That is actually one in the picture I put up ~ just wanna eat him up…in the FIGURATIVE sense, Jeff!)

But not “endangered”, because “THEY” don’t exist anymore.

  9. Gary from Jersey says:

Couldn’t figure out how to get rid of the farmers another way, it seems.

  10. aelfheld says:

    Snack-sized rabbits.

What will they think of next?
