There’s “Whole Foods” and Then There’s Whole Foods
…who should be left alone.
…”When you’re tampering with the family jewels for [the first time in] 150 years,” Green says, “we expected some fallout. I don’t think we expected it to be quite what it was.”
Necco learns an expensive lesson [ “…After sales dropped by around 35 percent…“] about better living through chemicals.
The chocolate Neccos were my favorite. Haven’t had one for decades… 🙁
I’ve not only never had necco wafers, I’ve never even heard of them until today.
Still, I’m right there with the outrage. I still resent the loss of red dye #2 M&Ms – now replaced with INSECT dye!! – and resent those interloper blue ones.
Chocolate are completely my favorite, George. I was always pissed there were like, only, two or three in a roll. Gross distributive injustice.
(Our little childhood sweet shop didn’t carry the chocolate rolls. Those were a revelation.)
Alice, darling ~ you’ve missed a rare treat. Remedy that immediately! (Stay away from the black ones!!!)
Gosh I hate when the family jewels are tampered with!
Going organic messed up sales. Imagine that.
The black ones are the best!
THS – I’m afraid I am doomed to live with my failure since as far as I can tell, they are not carried in any store within 40 miles of me.
Bingbing, I don’t think your bloggists realise that “The Family Jewels” in Australia refer to the human appendages that are also known as “The Wedding Tackle.”
I would have been your best friend, THS, because the chocolates were the ones I didn’t like.
Winston, it’s the same meaning in the US.
Winston, I don’t think anyone here missed the double entendre.
Winston, “The Family Jewels” means the same thing to us Seppos. We were just being kind to the Bingster and his personal priorities.
Love Necco’s. There’s a store here in Houston called Candylicious that carries (well, ok they used to carry – haven’t been there in awhile) rolls of all-chocolate Necco wafers. Heaven!
