They Didn’t Lose the Next Martin Luther King

They lost a stupid game, one that none of these animals was personally involved in.

Madness.

    Inexcusable

You always think of Vancouver as the Peace, Love and Happiness hippie of the Canadian cities, you know? The one frame shot from the skyline, with the smoke rising looks like another of Obama’s undeclared wars, doesn’t it?

The picture of the couple making out in the street was a little unexpected. I guess somehow I missed out on riot driven lust all these years.

I blame the riots on the NHL season lasting until the middle of June now. That’s just wrong.

I can’t watch this from work, but having lived where I could SEE the lights of Vancouver from my home, I can assure everyone that Vancouver is anything BUT “the Peace, Love and Happiness hippie of the Canadian cities”.

It’s had high murder rates for years, is a major entry point for drugs and illegal immigration, and has never been — to me — an attractive city.

And riots in southern BC? This one is bigger, but those are old news.

I’m just glad they didn’t have a brewery strike at the same time. That would have meant civil war.

I got about four slides in and I had to stop. That’s an outrage, and I wonder how many participants even had the slightest interest in hockey.

  6. JeffS says:

Huh. Turns out that there was another Vancouver riot in 1994. I missed that one. I’m glad to say.

  7. JeffS says:

And, I just got home, and saw the slides. Jeez — I wonder how many “yoots” were around, hmmmmmmm?

  8. Ichneumon says:

Vancouver has lost it’s reputation? Give me a break. All Canadian cities are dumps, but Vancouver is a shithole.

In some of those frames, it was clear that there was a significant minority just looking for an excuse to go wilding. Had they won the Cup, it would have had the same effect.

Considering all the diving and cheap-shotting the Canucks themselves indulged in, you’d think that the riot police would just have to stand around and wait for Vancouverites to just fall over clutching themselves.
