    The Space Shuttle program was way ahead of it’s time.

    Gunslinger, the space shuttle was a kludge, a rocket designed by committee. It worked, but not well. The Saturn V was the most powerful engine built in human history & NASA killed it, going so far as trying to destroy the blueprints to prevent any competition (or comparison) to the shuttle. The honour goes to those at NASA that made the shuttle work.

    If BHO had actually had a goal beyond killing our space capability, I would have no problem with killing off the shuttle for something better. But he didn’t and it’s what we had.

    I can only hope the private sector will do with space what they’ve done with oil – make it work despite the manifold and manifest failures of government.
