God, the new Monroe is the worst pick of them all.
Like we’re not gonna click.
What a complete pile of poo. The only one I could even halfway agree with was Will Smith.
Richard Gere is the new Bill Holden? Uhm – on what planet?? No way. That one seems even more inappropriate than Diaz. Anyone ever see Stalag 17? Can anyone imagine Richard Gere in that part?
Uhm…. NO.
The problem is – you can’t have “new” of any of those old classic actors.
Just LET THEM BE ORIGINALS, and stop trying to look for “the new one” of them!
Also, if I HAD to compare … I’d say Russell Crowe was not the new Marlon Brando. I’d say he was the new Spencer Tracy. He has that toughness, but also that appeal – you know you are looking at a “good” person. Deep down. Tracy had that, and so does Crowe.
In terms of the “new Marlon Brando”, even though I believe he was a total original: If I had to choose, I actually would put Angelina Jolie in there. She’s unpredictable, she always seems more alive than other actresses – and you kind of can’t put her in any category. Also, she’s sizzlingly sexy.
My two cents.
I didn’t click on it so I have no idea what you’re talking about.
From this male’s point of view she’ more scarily sexy, red.

Be ever so thankful for your deliverence, Mr. Summers. I haven’t recovered from the inanity of it all and I saw it last night. I think the Brittany Spears fan club wrote it up. It’s almighty appalling.
Sexy and beautiful are two separate classes; there’s some overlap but it’s not really a synonymous thing. Angelina does NOT lie in that overlap, IMHO.
Cameron Diaz doesn’t lie in either area as far as I’m concerned. I absolutely do not “get” her.
I could see Clive Owen as the new Cary Grant….if he could get some better roles, that is.
Marlon Brando was scarily sexy in Streetcar.
But I still think you just can’t (or shouldn’t??) compare actors like that. There is no “new Monroe”. Monroe was an original. Plain and simple. All those people were.
And you’d be hard pressed to name a big-time American original ‘twixt the ages of 20 and 45 right now, I think. Sometimes for sh*ts and giggles, we try to fit a same age ‘today’ fresh face into a ‘then’ role and damn! It’s hard to do!
I see it more as, which new stars could I see in the movies that these stars were in, replacing the original, with no other script changes. I could see Clive in many of Cary’s movies, but there are some, like Ingrid Bergman, who I just don’t see anyone coming close to. Marilyn just was never that big in my book, so…..
I’m starting to wonder about you and this ‘Clive’ thing there, baby bro. Is it the name? ‘Cause, judging by ‘The Closer’, there’s no discernable acting skills. (Unless you’re dazzled by his ‘KimBassingerinLAConfidentialpoutswearpoutswearfuckmefuckmefuckmepoutswearAcademyAwardPerformance’ imitation.)
Check out his work at BMW Films. He should be the next Bond. Just never seems to get those kind of acting roles, just the crappy stuff, it seems.
Bummer. The link is dead. I’ve enjoyed Clive Owen in everything I’ve seen him in, especially King Arthur, but I don’t think he is much of a Cary Grant. Truth be told, I doubt Owen will ever have the star power of Cary Grant (No knock there, who does?) but I think he’s a better actor.
Knockaround Saturday and a Call for Volunteers
Patsy and I are never, ever in synch on weekends that we don?t have plans. Today is no different. I tend to wake up at about 6AM, realize I don?t have to work, rejoice for a minute or two because I stayed up late and was really tired and then, go back …
I don’t think he is much of a Cary Grant
And THAT is almost an understatement…
I’ll have to check the link from home tonight, as it is blocked here at work. But Clive just ‘looks’ the Bond character in the BMW Films, and since the film Bond was based on Cary Grant, well…..
