Choosing your military leaders by such outdated rubrics like, say, oh “military skill” for instance is just so racist.
The U.S. military is too white and too male at the top and needs to change recruiting and promotion policies and lift its ban on women in combat, an independent report for Congress said Monday.
Seventy-seven percent of senior officers in the active-duty military are white, while only 8 percent are black, 5 percent are Hispanic and 16 percent are women, the report by an independent panel said, quoting data from September 2008.
…The report ordered by Congress in 2009 calls for greater diversity in the military’s leadership so it will better reflect the racial, ethnic and gender mix in the armed forces and in American society.
I don’t want a military leadership that “better reflect(s) the racial, ethnic and gender mix in the armed forces and in American society.”
I want a military leadership that is better at killing our enemies.
And I don’t give a flying fuck what they look like.

You know those NBA teams seem to need some diversity too, they don’t look like America. I don’t know who the pinheads were on this study but they certainly don’t know squat.
They weren’t supposed to know squat, Major Dad. They’re supposed to ruin the US military.
What the Bingster said. What MD said. What TRJ said.
We need more women in the NBA. Enough of the separate but equal stuff.
The “study” was commissioned right after we went third world in 2009 and was meant to drive a narrative.
On a much better note, and far more contructive. One of the Fox anchors was over in Afghanistan and got some numbers on what the Special Operations forces have been doing. I don’t remember the precise numbers but over the past ninety days they have killed over 300 leaders, over 600 others and captured over 2,000. Now that is the kind of balance and diversity I like to see. That should really help Skyler and all his mates this spring. Fingers crossed.
The most appalling part of this story is that they say that we should allow women in combat arms, not because they’ll be good at it, but because it will help women become generals. That cart just won’t work with the horse in the back.
But really what this is about is not minorities or women, it’s about getting the political opposition riled up. They don’t much care if they win on this issue, what they’re looking for is to get others to exhaust themselves on issues that don’t affect them at all, but all them to divert attention from their spending and power grabbing. That’s what it’s all about.
um, that last line should be “allow them to divert”
I would wager, pretty confidently, that the conclusions of this “study” were written before it even convened. I would ask how is the military, as it is, performing? Oh, pretty good you say, then why fuck with it you asswipes?
Ugh. Affirmative action has NO fucking place in combat.
