Thank Odin Al Gore Invented the Inner Webs!!

Because it gives Yahoo a chance ~ for those who covet a Cordon Bleu chef’s toque blanche, or see themselves as an aspiring Iron Chef ~ to break down, in simple terms, that most TERRIFYING OF EPICURIAN MOUNTAINS TO CLIMB:

How to cut up a real chicken wing.

(Like, one you got from a grocery store meat counter, not out of a T.G.I. Friday’s Buffalo Wing bag. They helpfully include a picture of a naked, intact chicken wing so one can recognize said foreign creature, and include a full description of all parts of said wing de poulet.)

Now the guide is (I shit you not.):

How to Prep Chicken Wings for Appetizers

…and covers just “cutting it up” into 3 pieces. Not cooking it, slathering it with goo, or anything else.

Just. Cutting. It. Up.

We live in an age of MORONS.

Know how I know? NOwhere do they discuss EVER rinsing the chicken pieces first, and then scrupulously washing YOUR hands, the tools you used, and ALL SURFACES the nasty little salmonella, et al, laden wings-now-in-three-pieces touched THOROUGHLY with anti-bacterial soap and water afterwards.

So they should all die before they have a chance to breed anyway.

Whew.

A New Jersey “Free the Grapes” Update

Just when you need a good slurp…

February 3, 2012
NEW JERSEY: THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE GOALS FOR NEXT YEAR

On January 17, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed a bill that, when it goes into effect this May, will make NJ the 39th legal state for winery-to-consumer shipping. Wineries will have the option to ship directly to states that represent 89.5% of wine consumption.

The new law is a step forward for the fourth largest state for wine consumption, but it is not without faults. These onerous regulations will certainly be in the crosshairs of industry representatives, who have quietly fixed overly burdensome regulations in numerous states.

The law includes a “capacity cap” that allows small wineries to ship directly to consumers but bans shipments from mid-sized wineries or wine companies producing more than 250,000 gallons per year. By most estimates, the bill will exclude 90% of U.S. wine production from direct sales to New Jersey wine lovers. Additionally, the bill has a high winery license fee (approximately $968, depending on several factors).

A great organization. They helped win the fight for wine shipping here in Florida. I highly encourage you to sign up for their emails ~ you might be astonished at what YOUR state is prohibiting ADULTS from purchasing, thanks to wholesalers protecting their turf.

MUCK AWAY!!!

Obama touts new jobs numbers, warns Congress not to ‘muck up’ recovery

President Obama touted January’s jobs gains as a signal of economy recovery and warned Congress not to “muck it up” in a speech at Fire Station No. 5 in Arlington, Virginia.

Obama said he had a message for Congress–pass the payroll tax cut and unemployment insurance extension without “drama” or delay. “Do not slow down the recovery we’re on now. Don’t muck it up,” he said.

Coming from the Ultimate Muck-Up Himself, that’s hilarious.

How to Read That Unemployment Number Drop

A RECORD 1.2 MILLION Drop OUT of the Labor Force

And the rate goes down!

Wheeeee!!!!!!!

ths update: Jeff over at Protein Wisdom found somebody to do the REAL math:

Once again, the civilian labor force participation rate has declined, from 64 percent to 63.7 percent in a single month. Since January 2009, it has declined from 65.7 percent, resulting in approximately 4.7 million people no longer being counted towards the unemployment rate. If they were included, the real rate of unemployed working age adults would be 11.01 percent, and the underemployed would be 17.6 percent.

Overall, that includes the 12.7 million people that BLS says are actually unemployed, and then 4.7 million who have given up looking for work, plus another 10.5 million who can’t find full-time work. All together, there’s 28 million working age adults who simply cannot find work in the Obama economy.

Inconvenient for the smartest administration ever and stright to the heart of AliceH’s point in the comments.

If they’re pulling this rabbit out of their hats so early, what on EARTH are they planning for, ooohhhh, say, August?

US Senate Adopts Ban on Fannie, Freddie Bonuses

The U.S. Senate on Thursday approved a measure to scale back million dollar bonuses for the executives of government-run housing finance firms Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

…Senator John McCain, an Arizona Republican, and Democrat John Rockefeller of West Virginia cosponsored the amendment. It was introduced after the companies’ regulator, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, approved nearly $13 million in bonuses to 10 executives.

In their Dr. Phil defense: when it’s NOT your money and you have neither stockholders nor competent overseers, and enablers from stem to stern, who’s REALLY to blame here? I mean, REALLY?

As we really haven’t had any Winter this year, if we get six more weeks of it a lot of plants that have started blooming are going to be totally hosed.

And Now A Sweet Story

Every now and then I have to revel in my inner sap

The next time you make a particularly strange typo, don’t throw your keyboard out the window — instead just smile. Smile, because it’s possible for a simple typo to lead to a marriage.

A sweet story, with a cute little cartoon accompaniment.

Recovery Summer!

Things are just going along swimmingly

Concerns over the size of United States debt reared their head once again as ratings agency Standard & Poor’s warned that health care costs for a number of highly-rated Group of 20 countries, including the U.S., could hurt growth prospects and harm their sovereign creditworthiness from the middle of this decade.

But let’s keep the Republican Circular Firing Squad going full-blast!

Oh, and let’s keep letting the MSM dictate the terms by which we get our candidate, and let’s keep focused like a laser on those really key issues like gay marriage and abortion, because really they are the only things that matter.

Really.
