Sony Can Kiss My A$$

The bride just bought the latest Gretchen Wilson album so she would have appropriate music blasting as she drives around town in the F-150 with the custom gunrack and the case of longnecks in the back. Last night she went to burn it into her iPod, and the computer spat the disc out; it wouldn’t even recognize it as an audio cd.
That’s the last cd we’re buying from them.

Agreed. This is getting crazy. There are so many ways around it though. Even if you’ve got it burnt to your iSuck (sorry, just recently recovered from long-term Apple delusion). There’s freeware programs that will burn iTunes into MP3 or other formats.
    Great info here.

  2. Mr. Bingley says:

My problem is that it won’t even mount the disc; the mac just spits it out.
    ggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

  3. Cullen says:

I do graphics on Macs, haven’t messed with music. BUT, did you get the disc burnt to iTunes? Can you get the songs from your iPod back onto your Mac?
There’s freeware PC software that’ll do this so you can play with them.
I fell out of love with Apple once they closed their source code again and pretty much shut down third party support. Idiots.
That and, in my experience, XP runs better than any Mac I’ve ever used.

  4. Bill McCabe says:

I got you covered on the mp3 tracks, if you need them.

  5. Cullen says:

Goodness, my second post musta been killed by your anti-spam.

  6. (Good God, man! Wud you say?!)

  7. Cullen says:

Stuff about Apples, MP3s, PCs and why I have switched from preferring Apples to preferring PCs.

  8. Mr. Bingley says:

Whoops, sorry Cullen. I didn’t check the comment file to see what blacklist was holding up. Hmm, the offending phrase was probably ‘freeware’ or somesuch.
    silly filters.

  9. Mr. Bingley says:

no, taht wasn’t it. oh well.
no, i can’t burn it because the imac just spits it out immediately. a pox on sony.

  10. GALA says:

I think your title put down Sony’s. I second that. Their disc players are the biggest suckers.

  11. The Real JeffS says:

Greedy bastards; too bad they can’t follow Apple’s business plan instead of screwing with the customer. I think I’ll keep my iPod, and look for work arounds.
Hmmmmm……I’m wondering if my old HP Omnibook, running Windows 98, might ignore this newfangled technology? It’s worth a shot…..

Sony will always have a soft spot in my heart. They are also championing the Blu Ray technology. But this whole copy protection stuff is getting crazy. In their zeal to protect their content, they are taking away user’s free-use rights.
I’m guilty of wearing the ole eye patch now and again, but if I really like some music, I will buy it.
I am in the process now of converting my entire CD collection to my hard drive. I’m using MP3 (since it’s the most universal). At 192, I’m not noticing any loss in fidelity. I love the fact that I can now back up my hundreds of CDs on a couple of DVDs. I can rip any compilation of music I want onto an MP3 or WMA disc.
I don’t even fool with iPods or MP3 players, cause my CD player in my van plays MP3s and WMAs. Great deal. I’m never far from a computer unless I’m driving.
    Just my POV.

  13. Cullen says:

Okay. I just submitted another comment, and something is wrong with it again. Dammit. I’m gonna start sticking to 5 different prepared responses. Three of which will involve boobies.

  14. Mr. Bingley says:

damn, I don’t know what the deal is cullen. i’m going to experiment.

okay, it wasn’t in that paragraph.
hahaha, but it made me wait:

    aha! it’s that paragraph.
    i doubt it’s this line:
I’m never far from a computer unless I’m driving.

  24. Mr. Bingley says:

    What about this:
cause my CD player in my van plays MP3s and WMAs.

  25. Mr. Bingley says:

yep, that hangs up. is it MP3s?

  26. Cullen says:

    Posted just fine for me.

  27. Mr. Bingley says:

    hmm, let’s try plays MP3s

  28. Mr. Bingley says:

that’s the problem. the combination of “playzzz” and “MP3s”

  29. Mr. Bingley says:

hahaha, sheet, it wouldn’t fall for the misspelling , either.

  30. Cullen says:

That’s funny. We’ll have to confine comments to: “The software that allows the initializaion of MPEG layer 3s.”

  31. Mr. Bingley says:

The devices that allow enjoyment of digitally recorded music.

  32. The Real JeffS says:

    great deal

  33. The Real JeffS says:

Wasn’t that part either, Mr. Bingley. I woulda thought so. At least we can say boobies.
    BOOBIES!!! BOOBIES!!! BOOBIES!!! BOOBIES!!!
    BWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

  34. John says:

Hah. I know you’re making this one up, because listening to Gretchen would get your wife kicked out of any English Department in the North East.

  35. Mr. Bingley says:

Which is why she wants to put it on the iPod, John…
