Makes You JUST Wanna Get YOU Some ObamaCare Don’t It?!?!

Well, that’s what it’s SUPPOSED to do, at least to those strange peoples classified as “OREGONIANS“.

They apparently respond well to badly done, Peter Max knock-off animation and cooing, PBS Saturday morning children’s programming guitar riffs.

Pret-tee barfy, but someone thought it would work.

Rains a lot there too, doesn’t it?

Former Army Capt. William Swenson to receive Medal of Honor

WASHINGTON – Former Army Capt. William Swenson will receive the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions during the 2009 Battle of Ganjgal Valley, the White House announced Monday.

Marine Sgt. Dakota Meyer was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2011 for his actions in the same battle.

Swenson was serving as an embedded trainer and mentor to Afghan border police when U.S. and Afghan troops walked into an ambush in Kunar province, Afghanistan on Sept. 8, 2009. The battle lasted six hours and Swensen went back into gunfire again and again to recover the wounded and the dead, while his repeated calls for support went unanswered.

In the Midst of Great Tragedy

…great courage.

The story’s here:

…Omar Grant, a civilian employee at the Washington Navy Yard, was on the first floor of the atrium Monday morning when shots rang out around him. Grant was with his colleague, Lindwood, a visually-impaired employee who uses a walking stick.

“We heard two shots and started wondering if that was the sound of someone dropping something or if they were really shots,” Grant told Yahoo News. “We heard three more shots and that’s when people started running out of the building and getting the hell out of there.”

While others ran for the exits, Mr Grant took Lindwood by the arm and carefully led him to safety.

BREAKING: Shooter at the D.C. Naval Yard

Bastard.

So far 10 people shot and reports of some fatalities, but you know how these things swing.

Gun-free military base combined with gun-free city, so everyone inside is sitting ducks.

Oh. Be comforted ~ Obama is “closely monitoring” events.

ths update Here we go. Fox news reports saying, “injured, but not contained”, black, over 6′ and bald, but worse

This is why it has to shake out. But I can tell you from WATCHING, they just helo-hoisted a wounded person out of the Yard, and there were TWO rifles, one pointed out of either side of the helo, providing COVER and ready to go if they had to.

Not good.

From the WaPa First HARD NEWS on at least two shooters: (And Fox just mentioned TWO for the first time as well)

Police search for active shooters on grounds of Washington Navy Yard in Southeast D.C.

Police say three shooters, including at least one in fatigues, have shot at least 10 people at the Washington Navy Yard.

Police said at least one of the shooters is “down,” but it was unclear whether that means the suspect has been arrested or shot. Two remain at large, and police believe they have pinned down one between the third and fourth floors of one of the buildings on the installation in Southeast Washington.

Sushmita Banerjee, female Indian author who wrote out about Taliban rule, shot dead

KABUL, Afghanistan – An Indian woman whose memoir about life under Taliban rule was turned into a Bollywood movie was shot dead Thursday by suspected members of the Islamist militia, officials said.

The killing of Sushmita Banerjee was the latest in a string of attacks on prominent women in Afghanistan, adding to fears women’s rights in a country where many are barely allowed outside the house will face setbacks after U.S.-led foreign forces fully withdraw in 2014.

The militants arrived before dawn at Banerjee’s residence in eastern Paktika province, which lies in Afghanistan’s east – a region where the Taliban are especially influential. Her husband, Jaanbaz Khan, answered the door, only to be quickly bound and blindfolded, provincial police chief Gen. Dawlat Khan Zadran told The Associated Press.

The militants then dragged Banerjee outside, took her to a nearby road and shot her at least 15 times, Zadran said….

And QUIT calling them “militants”, like they were angry about the price of oranges or something. There are far more accurate descriptive terms.

And Thank YOU, Obama Voters

You Know Who Else Rates a BIG “Bite Me”?

College football players. I am SICK TO DEATH of their (and their enabling apologists’) WHINING.

I COULDN’T go to school. Couldn’t afford it. And no hope of any financial assistance. So to have it HANDED to you because you can PLAY A GAME WELL and then you PISS on it ANYWAY?!?!?!

And yes, the school “makes money” off your (sometimes marginal) talents, but that helps other kids GO to school, besides the fact that the football team lives like Persian pashas YEAR ‘ROUND, even on the smallest campuses: special dorms, TUTORS (because 95% of the time YOU’RE MORONS who would have never been ADMITTED in the FIRST PLACE), special health facilities, TUTORS, world class gyms, TUTORS, EASY class schedules, on and on and on. College on a plate and, if you were “smart” enough”, you might stay and come out with a degree for life after your knees quit.

All FREE.

But people want to PAY you on TOP of that.

O.M.G., NO.

When the average kid is selling his SOUL for a degree that won’t get him a job at McDonald’s thanks to this President, we’re supposed to FEEL for these IGNORANT, “DISENFRANCHISED”, “ABUSED BY THE SYSTEM”, ENTITLED NEANDERTHALS?

That eloquent lad I quoted could get a National Championship stripped from his team for cavalierly having his hand out for more.

But so wat, right?

Vlad The Impaler

Additional to Sis’s post below, it is frankly amazing to me the depths to which “Smart Power” has sunk us. Think about it: the President of a foreign power mocks our President via the Op-Ed pages of the NYT the day after he gives a televised address. It is simply astonishing, and frightening.

We have placed ourselves in the care of a cadre of academics and mid-twenty something “senior policy advisors” under the leadership of a community organizer. Now while of course academics can be very smart and capable people they also tend, as my beloved Bride said to me the other day, yes they also tend to think, no to firmly believe in fact, that words equal actions.

And that misconception has deadly consequences for non-academics.

Hey Vlad?

Bite me.

White House responds to Putin’s NYT op-ed

On the eve of an all-important pow-wow in Geneva, where Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart will talk over a plan for stripping Syria of chemical weapons, The New York Times published a stern, and at times standoffish op-ed from their brand new contributor: Russian President Vladimir Putin.

…And in his final paragraph, Putin references President Barack Obama’s speech on Syria Tuesday night, and slams the president’s assertion of American exceptionalism.

“I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.”

It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation,” Putin wrote.

“That’s all irrelevant,” the White House official said in response…

Well, BITE ME’s what a real President would say to that, as opposed to an irrelevant one.

And we already know what we’re stuck with.

Public Policy Polling

Reflecting on the Colorado recalls

We did a poll last weekend in Colorado Senate District 3 and found that voters intended to recall Angela Giron by a 12 point margin, 54/42. In a district that Barack Obama won by almost 20 points I figured there was no way that could be right and made a rare decision not to release the pol. It turns out we should have had more faith in our numbers becaue she was indeed recalled by 12 points.

And may I add a warm, “Well DONE, Colorado!”?

And YOU, PPP, are off my “believe a damn thing you say ever again” list.

Well, if she turns over her Holiday Inn Reward points IMMEDIATELY, the IRS won’t audit her.

What Difference Does It Make?

And let’s not forget that one year ago four citizens were slaughtered on the altar of Obama’s and Hillary’s “Smart Power” over the course of nearly a full day while those entrusted with the responsibility for their care dithered and gamed the scenarios for how the outcome should be spun, leaving their plaintive cries for help unanswered and unacknowledged.

And un-acted upon.

And So Here We Are

It is a day for two things, it seems to me. Firstly, to raise a glass in memory of the 3000 of our fellow citizens who were so cruelly and wantonly slaughtered 12 long years ago.

Secondly, if we want to honor, to truly honor, their memory we do it not by transforming this event into some sort of state religious cult of gnashing and wailing but rather by vibrantly, enthusiastically living our lives and each precious day therein as if it may be our last, always looking and working towards the future that they had stolen from them in a way that says “get stuffed” to those who would control us, murder us or force us down certain paths for “our own good.”

Obama sees potential ‘breakthrough’ in Russia’s Syria proposal

Russia and Syria embraced Secretary of State John F. Kerry’s suggestion Monday that the Syrian government could avert a U.S. attack by placing its chemical weapons under international control, upending the Obama administration’s efforts to sharpen its case for military action.

U.S. officials said Kerry’s comment, made in response to a question at a news conference in London, was not intended to be a diplomatic opening. But Kerry’s Russian and Syrian counterparts quickly followed up, and the idea drew immediate interest internationally and from top Democrats in Washington.

By the end of the day, President Obama conceded that the idea of monitoring and ultimately destroying Syria’s arsenal “could potentially be a significant breakthrough.” The Senate postponed a vote scheduled for Wednesday on whether to back a proposed punitive strike.

Meet Alison Spann

A truly amazing young lady

Arlington, Virginia (CNN) — Alison Spann walks purposefully behind the marble headstones, just as her father taught her.

He brought her here, to Arlington National Cemetery, as a girl. He pointed out the names of the dead and the wars that took their lives. He told her to look around and appreciate the sacrifice of the fallen.

The two walked together along the rows of headstones and turned when they got to a grave they were visiting. It was the proper way to walk in a cemetery, he told her, by not stepping where people are buried, a way of respecting them long after death.

Her father taught her many things. To be headstrong. To strive for a stellar education. To remember that a girl can conquer anything.

Today, Alison is the epitome of grace, her wavy brunette hair pulled back as she glides through section 34 of the cemetery. The whir of the nation’s capital is drowned out here. Crickets chirp, cicadas buzz. A robin perches on a gravestone, almost as if watching.

As she reaches the fifth grave from the large oak, Alison turns and faces the headstone. It is her father’s: Johnny Micheal Spann. Known as Mike, he died on November 25, 2001 — the first American killed in the war in Afghanistan.

Read the whole thing.

God bless her.

Surprisingly, Syrian Christians and Alawites NOT REAL KEEN on Obomba’s Plans

Of course, they’re not Lurch and Maverick’s ISLAMIC “moderates”, so who gives a poop.

Back to Their Roots

In the biblical sense.

One of the First Known Chemical Attacks Took Place 1,700 Years Ago in Syria

In approximately 256 C.E. Dura-Europas, a Roman fort known as “the Pompeii of the Syrian Desert,” fell victim to a Sasanian Persian siege in what is now Syria. When archeologist Simon James investigated the site several years ago, he found traces of yellow sulfur crystals and pitch near a pile of bodies—Roman soldiers who had died in the battle. This evidence points to a different kind of death for the 19 entombed Romans. As Discovery News reports, around 1,700 years ago, Syria was site to one of the first chemical gas attacks known in history.

Japan to build $470M ice wall to prevent nuclear leaks

The Japanese government announced Tuesday that it will spend $470 million on a subterranean ice wall and other steps in a desperate bid to stop leaks of radioactive water from the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant after repeated failures by the plant’s operator.

The decision is widely seen as an attempt to show that the nuclear accident won’t be a safety concern just days before the International Olympic Committee chooses among Tokyo, Istanbul and Madrid as the host of the 2020 Olympics.

The Fukushima Dai-ichi plant has been leaking hundreds of tons of contaminated underground water into the sea since shortly after a massive 2011 earthquake and tsunami damaged the complex. Several leaks from tanks storing radioactive water in recent weeks have heightened the sense of crisis that the plant’s owner, Tokyo Electric Power Co., isn’t able to contain the problem.
