Obama looking to give new life to immigration reform

…According to a person familiar with the meeting, the White House may ask Schumer and Graham [ths: f*ckin’ WEASEL] to at least produce a blueprint that could be turned into legislative language.

The basis of a bill would include a path toward citizenship for the 10.8 million people living in the U.S. illegally.

When do you start to worry about the CITIZENS already here?

Jobs, d*ckweed. For an awesomely awesome super-genius, you sure have your priorities ass backwards. Not “weatherization”, not “healthcare”, not “ee-ville bankers”, not “green” anything, not western land grabs and, now, sure as hell not ILLEGAL f*cking “immigrants”.

Jobs for AMERICANS should be JOB ONE.

The day YOU’RE unemployed, on the other hand, cannot come soon enough.

UPDATE: If I can find this obvious truth easily, where’s the White House looking?

… “There are a lot of small businesses that don’t have much demand. They don’t need tax breaks, they need customers.”

Or are they?

All These “Jobs Bills” Are Working…

…If you work for the Government

Federal employees earn higher average salaries than private-sector workers in more than eight out of 10 occupations, a USA TODAY analysis of federal data finds.

Accountants, nurses, chemists, surveyors, cooks, clerks and janitors are among the wide range of jobs that get paid more on average in the federal government than in the private sector.

Overall, federal workers earned an average salary of $67,691 in 2008 for occupations that exist both in government and the private sector, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data. The average pay for the same mix of jobs in the private sector was $60,046 in 2008, the most recent data available.

These salary figures do not include the value of health, pension and other benefits, which averaged $40,785 per federal employee in 2008 vs. $9,882 per private worker, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

They’re taxing and regulating private industry out of existence to enrich themselves, to give themselves benefits and perks that they’re trying to make illegal for you.

But that you get the honor of paying for.

More Chilean Earthquakes

My god, in the past 14 hours they’ve had:

6.3
5.7
5.2
6.0
5.1
a 6.8 30 minutes ago
and a 6.6 about 15 minutes ago

Notice it says “212 earthquakes on this map”

Now notice the map is only for this past week.

Good god.

Update: looks like they’ve deleted the 6.8. You know it’s bad when even the sensors can’t keep track of these things…

Upset By The White House Taking The Lead In Pissing Off Allies…

…The House of Representatives decided to fulfill one of candidate Obama’s promises by advancing a resolution declaring that Turkey committed genocide

A U.S. congressional committee approved a resolution condemning the 1915 slaughter of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire as genocide, rejecting a last-minute Obama administration effort to derail it and putting a chill on relations with Turkey.

The resolution, approved on a 23-22 vote, faces an uncertain future in Congress, but nonetheless could damage U.S. relations with Turkey, a vital ally in the Middle East and Central Asia. Within minutes of the vote, Ankara said it was recalling its ambassador from Washington for consultations. Turkey took a similar step in 2007, when the committee passed a similar resolution.

Those friendly, frugal Germans offer their Greco Amigos some helpful tips

Greece must consider a firesale of land, historic buildings and artworks to cut its debts, two right-wing German politicians said today in a newspaper interview that is bound to exacerbate tensions between Athens and Berlin.

Alongside austerity measures such as cuts to public sector pay and a freeze on state pensions, why not sell a few uninhabited islands or ancient artefacts, asked Josef Schlarmann, a senior member of Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats, and Frank Schaeffler, a finance policy expert in the Free Democrats.

Maybe Sarah Palin could show them how to use E-Bay?

Hillary’s Got That “Reset” Button Crankin’ Now

It works so well in fact that she and Obama have managed to reset America’s influence…to zero

BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) – Brazil vowed Wednesday not to “bow down” to gathering international pressure to impose new economic penalties on Iran over its nuclear program if further negotiations might be fruitful.

With visiting U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton standing beside him, Brazil’s foreign minister said his country is concerned about Iran’s nuclear intentions.

…Brazil on Wednesday renewed opposition to fresh sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program, rebuffing visiting U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton even before she could make the case for new penalties.

Folks, this is Smart Diplomacy that is so smart it hurts.

A lot.

Real Leadership

My goodness, the more he does the more I am impressed with our new Governor Chris Christie

There’s no time left. We have no room left to borrow. We have no room left to tax. So we merely have room left now, to do this. We are all reaching the edge of a cliff. And it reminds me a bit of that part of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid where the had a seminal decision to make. So what did they do? They held hands and they jumped off the cliff.

We have to hold hands at every level of government, state county, municipal, school board. We have to hold hands and jump off the cliff.

…But for certain, the troops of the decades of overspending and overborrowing and overtaxing have gained on us. So the ruination of New Jersey’s economy, and of the quality of life we want all our citizens to have, is certain if we do not take this course.

Read and listen to the whole thing. The public approves.

I know one thing: his balls conform.

Disgusting

That’s all I have to say about this

Argentina was celebrating a diplomatic coup yesterday in its attempt to force Britain to accept talks on the future of the Falkland Islands, after a two-hour meeting in Buenos Aires between Hillary Clinton and President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

Responding to a request from Mrs Kirchner for “friendly mediation” between Britain and Argentina, Mrs Clinton, the US Secretary of State, said she agreed that talks were a sensible way forward and offered “to encourage both countries to sit down”.

Her intervention defied Britain’s longstanding position that there should be no negotiations unless the islands’ 3,000 inhabitants asked for them. It was hailed in Buenos Aires as a major diplomatic victory, but condemned in the Falklands.

The Russian army is embroiled in an embarrassing scandal after 200 of its tanks were found abandoned near a forest in central Russia, unguarded and unlocked.

A news website near the city of Yekaterinburg posted a video of the forgotten tanks showing passers-by clambering inside the vehicles and playing with empty ammunition belts. The only items that seemed to be missing were live rounds and the keys to the tanks’ ignitions.

“There are tanks all over the forest, abandoned,” an unnamed reporter on the video says. “If you need one, come and get it.”

I could use one for my drive to the bus stop. The Parkway can get pretty rough sometimes.

Putin On The Blitz

As this new era of world peace and love continues to blossom, Peace Meister Putin has decided that Russia needs a new method for delivering chocolates on Vladintine’s Day

MOSCOW (AP) – Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Monday that Russia will build a new strategic bomber, a move that comes as the nation tries to upgrade its aging military arsenal.

Putin said in televised remarks that work on the bomber must follow the development of a prospective stealth fighter, which made its maiden flight in January and was hailed by the government as a big step in military modernization efforts.

How’s that “Peace Dividend” working out?

UK Borrows Obama’s Economists: “Unexpected” Results Appear

Wow, Sterling is getting hammered this morning, down to 1.4839 at the moment. There are some bad signs about their debt and there’s this

The government borrowed another £4.3bn last month to plug the growing hole in the UK’s finances, figures show.

It is the first time the government has borrowed money in January – usually a bumper month for income from tax receipts – since records began in 1993.

Andrew Goodwin, senior economic adviser to the Ernst & Young ITEM Club, called the figures “pretty ghastly”.

The UK’s total borrowing for the financial year now totals more than £122bn.

January’s borrowing figure, released by the Office for National Statistics, came as surprise to many economists.

They had expected to see a surplus in January’s budget, allowing it to repay around £2.8bn of its debts.

But levels of income tax and capital gains tax received by the government were significantly lower than in previous years, the ONS said.

Tax receipts dropped 11.8% compared with January last year, when the government was able to repay £5.3bn.

They’ve got to cut spending. There’s simply no other way.

And we have got to cut it as well.
