…Suggesting a ban not just on semi-automatic weapons like the AR-15 but maybe even handguns, the most popular rifle in America, the president said, “What I’m trying to do is to get a broader conversation about how do we reduce the violence generally. Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced. But part of it is also looking at other sources of the violence. Because frankly, in my hometown of Chicago, there’s an awful lot of violence and they’re not using AK-47s.
They’re using cheap handguns.“
Says the guy who’s never bought a handgun in his life, else he’d know the LAST thing they are is “cheap”.
…After the Clinton legal team had a chance to review the State Department cable traffic between Benghazi and Washington, the experts came to the conclusion that the cables proved that Hillary had in fact given specific instructions to beef up security in Libya, and that if those orders had been carried out — which they weren’t — they could conceivably have avoided the tragedy.
Clearly, someone in the Obama administration dropped the ball — and the president was still insisting that it was not his fault.
In the end, then, Hillary decided to assume responsibility to show that she was acting more presidential than the president.
I am told by my sources that she firmly believes that when the State Department cable traffic is made public, either through leaks to the press or during formal House committee hearings, it will exonerate her and shift the blame for the entire mess onto the president.
Let the leakage begin! I can’t wait hear Michelle clapping now…
I don’t have a twitter account but as I’ve said before I really really love it, as people just simply can’t resist sending out their unfiltered thoughts.
And thanks to the memory of Da InterWebs “delete” doesn’t mean “delete”
A Canadian border services officer was shot and seriously wounded by a gunman who then fatally turned his weapon on himself at the Peace Arch crossing south of Vancouver, police say.
Much as 100% of school shootings in the US occur in “gun free zones.”
Man, this Empty Nest bit is tough at times. Luckily Daughter was home last weekend so we decided to open a nice bottle of vino
I found a 2005 Mondavi Cab in the closet. My goodness was it lurvly: full of sweet cherry jammy yummability and the seven years had aged it as smooth as silk.
It went really well with the big honking filets, canned green beans and mashed spuds Daughter wanted
…was like watching the Uruk Hai march across the Plains of Rohan with Merry and Pippin in broad daylight.
Unnerving and unnatural.
ths update: Speaking of unnatural: that clapping you heard during an obviously unsuitable subject (not to mention STRICTLY verboten)?
Your First Lady, just doing what comes…well, breaking the rules IS “natural” to these Chicago types. They live under a different system than the rest of us peons.
WASHINGTON (AP) – The White House, under political pressure to respond forcefully to the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, is readying strike forces and drones but first has to find a target.
And if the administration does find a target, officials say it still has to weigh whether the short-term payoff of exacting retribution on al-Qaida is worth the risk that such strikes could elevate the group’s profile in the region, alienate governments the U.S. needs to fight the group in the future and do little to slow the growing terror threat in North Africa.
Details on the administration’s position and on its search for a possible target were provided by three current and one former administration official, as well as an analyst who was approached by the White House for help. All four spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the high-level debates publicly.
Five weeks, five weeks have passed since the attack.
I’ve been laughing all day at the disappointed throngs who moan that Baumgartner DIDN’T break the “longest freefall record”, because the MORONS can’t seem to realize ROCKETING ALONG AT EIGHTHUNNERTTHURTYTHREEMILESNHOUR means a somewhat shorter time in freefall. I figured that was as physics-challenged as they came.
I’ve listened to its guitar solo 1000 times but I never knew this
Fifty-four seconds into the song, before the famous last line, which is played over piano chords, are 18 bars (or measures) of guitar solo: the first two bars are played by McCartney, the second two by Harrison, and the third two by Lennon, then the sequence repeats.[26] Each has a distinctive style which McCartney felt reflected their personalities: McCartney’s playing is in a somewhat rigid stacatto style; Harrison’s is melodic with pronounced string bends and Lennon’s is rhythmic, stinging and had the heaviest distortion. Immediately after Lennon’s third solo, the piano chords of the final part of the song begin.

A controversial British plan to cull thousands of wild badgers to control the spread of bovine tuberculosis is a “costly distraction” that risks increasing incidences of the disease, wildlife experts said on Saturday.
The mass killing of the furry black and white nocturnal creatures, which have been found to help spread tuberculosis (TB) in cattle, has raised the threat of action by militant animal rights activists.
The move also is opposed by celebrities including Queen guitarist Brian May and veteran nature show presenter David Attenborough.
’08 race worker held in damage to Colorado Democratic HQ
One of two people suspected of shattering 11 windows Tuesday morning at the state Democratic Party headquarters has an arrest record and a history of helping a Democratic political candidate, public records show.
Police said that about 2:20 a.m., 24-year-old Maurice Schwenkler, now in custody, and an at-large accomplice took a hammer to the picture windows displaying posters touting President Barack Obama and his health care reform efforts.
Early Tuesday, Democratic Party chairwoman Pat Waak said the damage to her building in Denver’s art district was a consequence of “an effort on the other side to stir up hate.”
She tempered her statement after Schwenkler’s political history was revealed.
“What I’ve been saying is there is a lot of rhetoric out there from both sides of the spectrum,” Waak said. “That’s what’s been disturbing to me. People are saying a lot of things not appropriate for civil discourse.”
No. What you said was it WAS “THE OTHER SIDE STIRRING UP HATE”, RIGHT? Why don’t you WALK THAT “shoot first, aim later” BACK like you had just the teensiest bit of integrity, you verminous, duplicitous, mendacious, obfuscating hag. Or is that sort of honorable mea culpa completely absent from the DNA of any member of the DEM hierarchy ANYWHERE?
…(State Rep.) Balmer said he suspects the vandalism might have been aimed at making the GOP look bad.
Ya think?
ths update: MY mea culpa: Read the tiny DATE thing in the article as well. 40 lashes with a wet noodle.
…Honestly, between this and Joe Biden’s insistence Thursday night that the intelligence community is also partly to blame for the Benghazi fiasco, it appears that the Obama administration has a death wish. Tangling with one set of venomous snakes is crazy enough — but two?
