More on the Ann Romney Attacks

…from the Boston Herald.

What if Hilary Rosen’s assault on Ann Romney wasn’t a mistake?

…Mother Jones magazine’s Stephen Robert Morse wrote, “I don’t blame Ann Romney for marrying a man whose salary and family wealth made it such that she didn’t have to work.”

Instead he blames anyone who believes “housewives, domestic engineers, or whatever other in-vogue term they are being called today, work as hard as women who .?.?. work outside of the home.”

The left’s message to stay-at-home moms: “Dumb, lazy and submissive is no way to go through life, girl.”

On what planet is this a winning strategy? And yet the attacks continue.

Ah, but note that part about Romney’s “family wealth.” It recalls President Barack Obama’s recent comment that back in Chicago, he and Michelle “didn’t have the luxury for her not to work.” The “luxury.”

Meanwhile prominent liberal Markos Moulitsas of the Daily Kos says the most relevant question is “How many nannies did the Romney household employ?” You know, because of all that breast-cancer, MS-infused “luxury?”

Could it be that Team Obama is so invested in the class-envy strategy that every issue — even motherhood — will be used to attack the Romneys for their wealth?

Now there’s a question with an obvious answer, only I’d amend it to say simply say “that Team Obama is so invested and will use ANY strategy at hand“.

“Wealth” and “moms” is just the choice of the moment and the campaign is young.

ths update: And they keep digging, trying to change the meme…

…Well, I’d like to demand that Ann Romney apologize to all women for equating the “struggle” of a wealthy mother who had full-time household help to that of a poor or working-class job-holding mother, who must choose between her job and her children when a child gets sick. How dare you, madam? Have you no shame? I’d like to demand that Mitt Romney apologize for his wife’s remarks, too. I’d like to hear every prominent Republican denounce Ann Romney for her heinous insensitivity to non-wealthy mothers who must work outside the home.

Wait. Ann Romney’s not a Democrat, and I’m not a Republican, so that’s not how the world works. Sorry about that. I apologize…

That’s the editor of Salon, Joan Walsh, talking there. She’s really clever, too.

Oh, they’re a charming bunch, the lot of them.

I Second That Opinion

I thought it was pretty odd behaviour myself.

Now, another point: It is critical, in my view, for the Florida Bar to investigate the behavior of Zimmerman’s former lawyers. Those are the birds who “resigned” from the case yesterday, saying they couldn’t get in touch with their client. In fact, they had been out of touch a day and half, hardly a long period. Paul Callan, a former New York prosecutor and a CNN legal analyst, was on TV today to say how dismayed he (and other lawyers) are at the behavior of these attorneys. They appeared on TV to announce that they’re leaving the case. They all but said that Zimmerman was mentally unstable, something highly inappropriate for counsel to say in public. They said that Zimmerman had fled the state of Florida. In fact, he surrendered to authorities in Florida today. They prejudiced public opinion against their own former client.

The Modern Democratic Party and It’s Spokeswomen

…make me want to puke. How about the lovely sentiments contained in this snippet from Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen’s answer, when Anderson Cooper asked about the GOP’s “war on women”?

…With respect to economic issues, I think actually that Mitt Romney’s right, that ultimately, women care more about the economic well-being of their families and the like. But he doesn’t connect on that issue either. What you have is Mitt Romney running around the country saying, “Well, my wife tells me what women really care about are economic issues.” And, “When I listen to my wife, that’s what I’m hearing.” Guess what?

His wife has never actually worked a day in her life.

She’s never really dealt with the economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing—in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school, and how do—why we worry about their future…

That’s another Hilary’s, “I ain’t sittin’ home bakin’ cookies” anti-housewife snobbery in SPADES (“housewife” being the antiquated term).

Has she not heard of the new “stay-at-home-mommy” phenomena? I mean, a BUTTLOAD of that expensive stroller, stay-home set voted for HER guy last time and I’m not so sure how that’ll play THIS go ’round. You just go ahead and start crackin’ on Ann Romney anyway, girlfriends, since you’re so Debbie Wasserman Schultzifried cool and all.

Dare ya.

ths update It’s now about 10:55 p.m. Central and Twitter has been EXPLODING on Ms Rosen’s azzzzzz for an hour and a half already. Being a leftist feminazi, she’s doubled down, both in tweets ~ a REALLY smarmy, gaggable one directly TO Ann Romney ( “@AnnDRomney Please know, I admire you. But your husband shouldn’t say you are his expert on women and the economy. #HeNeedsMore” ) ~ as well as a hastily penned Huffington Post piece that appeared about an hour ago, the gist of which seems to be, again, how DARE Mitt Romney consider his wife’s opinions and respect her feelings. When she obviously brings so little to the table, nice sick lady that she is and all, Rosen means.

…Now let’s be clear on one thing. I have no judgements about women who work outside the home vs. women who work in the home raising a family. I admire women who can stay home and raise their kids full-time. I even envy them sometimes. It is a wonderful luxury to have the choice. But let’s stipulate that it is NOT a choice that most women have in America today.

Why does this even matter? It matters purely because Mitt Romney put the issue of his wife’s views squarely on the table.

As Ruth Marcus noted in her column yesterday in the Washington Post, Romney, when asked last week about the gender gap, twice said he wished his wife could take the question.

“My wife has the occasion, as you know, to campaign on her own and also with me,” Romney told newspaper editors, “and she reports to me regularly that the issue women care about most is the economy.”

So it begs the question, is Ann Romney Mitt’s touchstone for women who are struggling economically or not? Nothing in Ann Romney’s history as we have heard it — hardworking mom she may have been — leads me to believe that Mitt has chosen the right expert to get feedback on this problem he professes to be so concerned about.

I have nothing against Ann Romney. She seems like a nice lady who has raised nice boys, struggled with illness, and handles its long-term effects with grace and dignity. I admire her grit in talking about her illness publicly.

What a miserable, pretentious, arrogant, hateful, condescending piece of Democratic sheep operative.

But she didn’t start this. No, no, no, no. She restarted this ~ fanned the flames set in 1992, when another Hilary disparagingly sniffed and said:

I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas, but what I decided to do was to fulfill my profession which I entered before my husband was in public life.”

She’s spent the past 20 years making up for that and, do you know, until tonight it had almost worked, because so many folks on Twitter told me, “I’d forgotten that!” (While I, of course, reminded everyone in sight…)

As well as another offense a few years later of less import, but only because the offender herself was so offensive:

Teresa Heinz Kerry apologizes for Laura Bush comment

Teresa Heinz Kerry told a newspaper she doesn’t know if Laura Bush has ever had “a real job.” …

…”Well, you know, I don’t know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good,” Heinz Kerry said. “But I don’t know that she’s ever had a real job — I mean, since she’s been grown up. So her experience and her validation comes from important things, but different things.”

Heinz Kerry said she sees her age as a benefit — she is 66 and Bush 57. “I’m older, and my validation of what I do is a little bit bigger — because I’m older, and I’ve had different experiences. And it’s not a criticism of her. It’s just, you know, what life is about,” she said.

Oh, yes. All you Democratic wimmens are so worldly, so wise…so coolsers. I’m surprised you can see your feet over your noses, as high as you have them in the air around, well, the rest of us commoners. Lucky for us you deign to lead, but every village has its idiots and witch doctors.

What I would like to see is everyone reminded of the peculiar love the Democratic women nurture in their bosoms for the stay-at-home-Mom. Tweak people’s memories about just how connected those saavy, spectacled thirty somethings on TV are to their REAL lives when the “War on Women” comes up. It’s not just that Ann Romney can birth five sons, keep the house clean, know what a cabbage at Publix costs and make a PTA meeting, but that even without a “paystub”, Mitt Romney considers his wife his PARTNER. Not his CHATTEL. Not his paid-less-than-the-guys female employee in the Obama White House. Not seniority based on earnings.

They are FULL PARTNERS in a beautiful, RESPECTFUL marriage and a surrogate for the DEMOCRATIC PARTY ATTACKED THAT TONIGHT.

Oh, it’s a war, alright. But I have a feeling they should be thinking more like Yamamoto after Pearl Harbor.

Gas Prices Grow More Under Obama than Carter

Marking the similarities between President Barack Obama’s time in office and former president Jimmy Carter’s is nothing new. But as of Monday, Obama has hit one more Carter benchmark – both saw gas prices double in their first term of office.

…Under the Carter administration, gas prices increased by 103.77 percent. Gas prices since Obama took office have risen by 103.79 percent.

So I get on the bus this morning at the usual 4:50am hour and settle into my seat in the pitch-black darkitude to grab a little more catnappian slumber on the way in. As the bus is by far the cheapest commuting option is has been getting more crowded of late, even at that time, and a fellow sets down in the seat beside me. No biggie as my lids descend and the blessed darkened veil is drawn across my consciousness…what the hell?!?! All of a sudden I feel as though I have been transported to Gitmo or perhaps to the top of Devils’ Tower in Close Encounters as this blinding light is boring into my brain.

It seems the fellow next to me decided that he REALLY could not survive the commute unless he pulled out his iPad and read the NYT website, with its black-text-on-glaring-white background, with the brightness cranked up.

I felt like I was in a goddamned tanning bed.

To his credit he did shut it off when I politely tapped him on the arm and asked “Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?” “Could you turn that down a little?”

Death By A Thousand Solyndras

“No energy” is the cleanest energy of all

In a startling example, the city of Reno’s wind turbines — for which the city received more than $150,000 in rate-payer funded rebates — produced dramatically less electricity than the manufacturers of its turbines promised.

“These manufacturers, when they gave us the turbines, they said they were designed to be mounted on a parapet at this height, and that’s what we did,” said Jason Geddes, who runs the city of Reno’s renewable energy program. “But when we started getting actual wind flow patterns, we realized their claims were wrong.”

As first reported by the Reno Gazette-Journal, one turbine that cost the city $21,000 to install saved the city $4 on its energy bill. Overall, $416,000 worth of turbines have netted the city $2,800 in energy savings.

Fantastic! It will “pay for itself” in under 150 years!

That’s actually a better return than any of Obama’s spending has netted us.

At 1:30 on the Video Tape

…you hear the screaming for help and then, “Whose voice was this?” The “audio expert” insisting the voice is NOT Zimmerman’s, telling the viewer:

“It is my conclusion to a reasonable degree of scientific certainty that that’s not the voice of George Zimmerman.

They then cut to Diane Sawyer to wrap up the segment and that’s the end of THAT. Oddly enough though, at the end of the written story whose link accompanies the broadcast video is this little disclaimer that NEVER MADE IT ON AIR:

Owen, the chair emeritus at the American Board of Record Evidence, was not able to determine if the voice was that of Martin, the Sentinel reports, because he did not have audio of the teen’s voice to compare to the shouts for help in the 911 call.

ABC just made sure that you knew he thought it wasn’t Zimmerman’s voice, even though ~ as Tom Maguire has pointed out repeatedly ~ no one’s ever compared the tape to Zimmerman’s actual voice screaming for help, either.

What a hack job.
